Amanda’s 32nd Birthday

Yesterday evening as I was getting out of the car I was about to hang the earrings I got for Amanda from the rearview mirror so she’d see them when she got in it to go to work in the morning.  However, she poked her head out the door when we came home, I guess not thinking that I might be carrying a bag or something with her birthday present in it.  I told her I was going to let her have a present first thing, but that I couldn’t now because the surprise was ruined.  So I snuck out late last night and hung it from one of the levers by the steering wheel. I spent a portion of …

Working and Scrapbooking

Uncharacteristically, I spent a good portion of my day today working.  I say uncharacteristically because it’s a Saturday.  We originally thought about going to the beach, but it was dreary all day and never got quite warm enough to do it.  We’re planning on trying tomorrow though. The work I did wasn’t stuff that needed to be done right away, but since we didn’t really have anything going on I went ahead and knocked it out.  When Milly went down for her nap Amanda printed out some pictures for scrapbooking.  She was picking up from 2009, shortly after Milly’s birth.  She really enjoys doing that. Amanda picked up several new ink cartridges the other day specifically so she could print …

Milly’s Body Art

I felt very productive today, either finishing or starting a few projects.  I’m particularly excited about a new website I’ll be starting on soon. I kept so busy, in fact, that I hardly noticed the Mason girls being here.  I think I saw them once, when Amanda called me out to the living room.  Callie was playing Milly’s new guitar and Milly was dancing.  She had Amanda sing to complete the scene.  I did notice their excited screams from time to time, and I noticed that Milly and Callie both cried at different times.  I think Milly’s was when they were coming downstairs from having played in Milly’s room and Callie’s was when she was leaving.  Milly tried to console …

Still Buzzing

Just for fun: It was pointed out today that Duke literally did not lead in the second half, and yet they won the game.  Think about that.  From the 20 minute mark to 0:00 Duke’s score was always less than Carolina’s.  And yet after the buzzer sounded, Duke had one point more.  Awesome. Yeah, I was up late last night reveling in that.  It was hard to work today with all the chatter going on about what people are saying was one of the best Duke-Carolina matchups ever.  Thanks for giving that to us, Duke.  I’m still buzzing about it. Milly took it upon herself to draw with markers on a piece of paper on her easel today.  I asked …

Reece Johnson is Full of Win

We didn’t get up this morning until close to 9:00.  Amanda got Milly and we lazed around for a bit before deciding to walk to the store to get some milk.  We ended up getting a few other things too.  There’s a cashier, Jennie, who always talks a bunch to Milly.  She said it brightens her day any time she gets to see her.  There was also an older lady who talked to Milly a few times in passing.  Everyone loves Milly. We got our groceries and each picked out a doughnut then sat outside against the building’s wall to eat them.  Well, Milly and I sat against the wall.  Amanda went to stand in the sunshine to stay warm. …
