Baby Basketball

Milly and I played ball in the hallway for a little bit today.  Even though she’s relatively power forward-sized right now, given her parents’ genetics I’m going to guess she’ll be more point guard-sized by the time she’s done growing (if she’s lucky), and I have to say, her ball-handling skills and passing abilities are pretty well-developed for a one-year-old. I mentioned this at small group tonight and decided to assign all the babies basketball positions.  Henry Nowak is too old for the team, so I didn’t count him.  Maybe he could be the coach.  His sister, Lauren, I assigned the point guard spot since she’s smallish (though when I saw her this weekend I noticed that she’s lengthening out).  …

The Offending Goldfish

This afternoon, after Amanda and I had watched Friday Night Lights (which included a very real and touching scene between Matt and Julie) and The Soup on the DVR, Amanda called the Frazelle house to tell see if they’d gone to church yet because Hannah had been mentioned in today’s message.  Barry told Amanda there were some waves and that I should come on out, so we all (Amanda, Milly and I) headed on over to Wrightsville Beach. Barry and I had a good time surfing.  It was small but clean, and not very crowded.  Some nice set waves came in from time to time and I got to really work on my turning today.  There were some nice little …

Hellweek Begins

Hellweek began with, eh, well, not too much of a bang, today. Amanda’s got to attend some training for some new software at work this week, which will keep her there much longer than usual.  That leaves me with Milly all day long a couple additional days this week.  Normally the week goes like this: Monday Milly day.   Milly goes down for a nap from 9:15 or 9:30 to about 12:30, then goes back down from about 2-5.  I end up working late to catch up on things I should have gotten done during the day, but didn’t. Tuesday-Thursday Milly goes down for a nap from 9:15 or 9:30 to about 12:30, at about which time Amanda gets home, allowing …

Milly and the Flower Pot

Amanda slept in a bit today.  I don’t think she got up until around 10 or so, maybe a little later.  I had a good time with Milly in that time though.  Phil had gone to the church to help with something there, so Milly and I strolled around the yard a bit.  Amanda’s parents live out in the woods, so it’s a bit different from the neighborhood she’s used to walking around in. Off the sun room Karen and Phil have a porch with a few different tiers on it.  Milly and I were on the lowest tier, which is maybe a foot off the ground, and she was playing around with a flower pot, picking things up and …
