Mama’s Girl

Amanda continues to be sick.  Milly was really sweet to her tonight though.  Amanda was on the couch for most of her non-working day again, curled up under a blanket.  She coughed this evening and Milly offered her mother her milk.  It seemed to be a cause and effect reaction anyway, which we thought was sweet.  She also climbed on the couch to sit with her some and kept bringing balls over to Amanda to throw. Milly played her little piano for her mom too, though I don’t think that helped her feel much better, since she was banging the keys right next to Amanda’s aching head.  It was really cute how she would do it though.  She had her …

Potty Training Day 2

Milly didn’t go at all this morning, but her diaper from last night was a pretty heavy one.  I guess she got it all out early so she wouldn’t have to deal with the stress of going in the potty.  There was one mishap this afternoon though, after Milly got up from her nap and Amanda was home.  She’s a lot more comfortable sitting on her potty, but I don’t think she has quite put sitting on it with using it yet.  I’m doubting the three day method is going to work this time around, but that’s okay.  Figured all it would cost to try would be a bunch of paper towels at worst. I was CRAZY busy with work …

New Year’s Eve 2010

We were going to go over to the Boneskes’ to celebrate the new year tonight, but when Milly woke up her eye was so covered with crusted-up gunk that she couldn’t even open them, so we took her to the pediatrician.  They said it wasn’t pink eye and gave us some eye drops for her, but we figured it would be best for her if she could just rest and take it easy at home.  Nick and Eli came over though, and Amanda and I played board games with Nick into the wee hours of the night.  Yes, exciting, I know.  Hey, we enjoyed it. Let’s back up and discuss the rest of the day. Milly’s appointment for the doctor …

This Clingy Thing

Milly needs to get over this clingy thing she’s developed for me.  I mean, it’s flattering to a degree, but when I can’t put her down to take stuff out to the car, or she cries when I leave the room just to go grab something, it gets a little stressful. It was compounded today because Amanda hurt her hand and wasn’t able to do as much.  She was going to one of her parents’ neighbor’s house to borrow an egg for breakfast, and she thought it would be fun to take Milly in her wagon.  Milly was crying (because I was working, so I didn’t go) until Bruce was put in the wagon with her. Well, Amanda got the …

12 Days at PC3

Port City Community Church’s opening was not to be missed today.  It started out with a rendition of 12 Days of Christmas sung by Micah Kolk.  Seriously, Micah is one entertaining guy.  After that they showed the annual Christmas card, which had some very nice trick editing. Oh yeah, Mike’s message was pretty good, too.  What stuck with me most was his talk about how to accept something like God’s gift of Jesus.  You don’t have to try to balance the scales or make good.  It’s like someone anonymously paying for your meal at a restaurant; if they’re gone and they’ve already paid for it, you can’t do anything but be grateful and walk out.  You don’t spend all your time trying …
