Sayre Christian Village

I got up, took a shower and ate some Capt’n Crunch then decided to start taking some more pictures.  I spent a lot of time today walking all around the house trying to get shots of everything and every room. Hopefully some of them come out okay. In taking all those pictures I learned several things. I learned that Pap had once bought a crapload of Ziff, some kind of all-purpose cleaner, and told his boys to go sell it door to door to make some money. There were a ton of bottles still there. Dad and Bernie said they must have been there since the 1970’s. I also learned that Pap was a very meticulous note taker from looking through his desk. He …

Discussions of Another Baby

So yeah, Amanda and I are wanting to have another kid at some point.  No, we’re not pregnant and we’re not trying to be right now, but on the way home from small group tonight I mentioned to her that I was a little emotionally scared of having a second kid.  We just love Milly so much that it’s hard to imagine having that much love for another child.  Now, Second Child, if you’re reading this, it doesn’t mean that we’re not capable of loving a second kid, just that it’s almost overwhelming to imagine having that much love times two. Before I went to bed I was watching a show that centered around a dramatization of a post-apocalyptic world (which I’d seen before), so I spent my waking time imagining defending Wrightsville Beach from invaders from the mainland, Topsail Island and Carolina Beach.  It made me decide that every house in the country should be hooked up with wind and solar power generators. Shocking, …

Mom’s Rochester Job

Milly slept through the  night and didn’t even wake up in the early morning for a diaper change.  It’s getting consistent enough that I suppose I’ll stop mentioning it soon.  But watch, tonight will be a bad one. We got a new used stove today.  One of Amanda’s coworkers, Trish Roberts, had been given a new stove and was going to give hers away to Habitat or some such place unless someone wanted it.  Our stove is even older than hers, so Amanda said she’d take it.  Trish’s husband, Mike, came by and dropped it off this morning (and took the time to goo goo at Milly for a minute).  It’s sitting on our front porch right now because the …
