The Seven-Month Birthday

There’s a bit going on today, but I’ll get to the day and current events in a minute. The seven-month mark isn’t usually one that’s talked about all that much, but I feel bad that I skipped the six-month birthday update and there’s plenty of development going on now in the lives of my little boys. The first thing I want to mention is that the boys are finally growing some hair back. I noticed it a month or so ago, that their little bald strips were starting to fill out. Fawkes has one really long hair on that goes down almost to his eyebrows. I want to cut it, but I like noticing it sometimes. Both boys are trying really …

Labor Day 2018

Looking back on the past few Labor Days, I lamented to Tristen this weekend that we used to travel. Well, we didn’t last year because Tristen was just finishing up her first trimester and wasn’t feeling great anyway. This year it would have been hard to go anywhere with two six-month-old babies. We did have a really good extended weekend though. Our friend Steven told us a few weeks ago in a group text that he was going to be in town and wanted us to meet his girlfriend. Figuring people might spend too much time trying to thinknwhatnto do, indecided we’d have a cookout and invite a bunch of people over. With the boys, we don’t get to see …

The End of Summer 2018

My favorite thing about the summer is that Milly is with me a lot more than during the school year. She’s over here every Sunday through Thursday, and I love having her around even when we’re not really doing anything. She’s my baby girl and she’s a daddy’s girl. School starts next week, so today was it. I mean, it’s not like I won’t see her. We still get every other weekend, plus I’m going to start getting her after school every Tuesday and Wednesday instead of every Tuesday plus every other Wednesday, so that’ll be nice. Still, those aren’t overnights and it’s just not the same. The picture at the top here is actually from yesterday, but I think …

Adam and Rachel’s Wilmington Weekend

My brother, Adam, had said something about coming for a visit when we were all in Rougemont for the Fourth of July. That weekend came to pass this past weekend.Friday Friday They got here Friday evening shortly before Tristen and I put Fawkes and Phoenix down, so they got to see them for a bit, which was nice. We had just experimented with feeding them rice cereal for the first time. Well, we’d added it as a supplement to bottles a few times, but it was the first time we fed it to them directly. It was a hit. They both kept trying to grab the spoons like they were bottles, so we had to keep blocking their arms with …

Phoenix Eggs?

(No, I know the image here has absolutely nothing to do with the title of this post or most of the content of it, but it does tie in with the last paragraph, I don’t have any pics from the one real event of the day, and you probably wouldn’t like to see a titular picture.) Seriously, every time Fawkes and Phoenix seem to be on the verge of consistently sleeping well, we get a night or two of bad sleep. Last night they were both awake a little after 11:00 with no signs of going back to sleep, unless kicking and flailing and making noise is a sleep sign we missed. Same thing happened just a little bit ago …
