The Fox and the Fire Chicken

Since Tristen was recovering from a stomach thing last night, I took the duty of taking care of the boys mostly upon myself. According to the sleep log we keep, I went into the room at 9:39, 10:24, 10:44, 12:02, (we fed them at 12:18, but Phoenix was crying right before that), 4:21, 4:51, and 5:19. The 5:19 visit included two extra trips back to the room just before I laid back down in the bed, and at that point I went ahead and brought Phoenix into our room. Tristen had woken up and had a spot ready for him. The best thing I wrote in our log was this: 9:39 P let out a shriek. Put paci back in jamas …

A Day of Sickness and Terrible Nappage

Don’t let the picture here fool you- the last day has been a little rough. Last night we switched the boys from their sleepsuits to pajamas, mainly because Phoenix has been getting out of his, and Fawkes has gotten an arm out a few times. I don’t know if that was the reason last night was a bit of a reversion or what, but I went into their room five times before it was time for their late night feeding. (I was messing with this site while Tristen was sleeping. Had I been working, she’d have been the one going in more often than not.) They woke up a few times after the feeding, too, though not until about 4:30. …

Milly, Ant-Man, and the Wasp

First let me say that Fawkes and Phoenix slept very well last night. There was a little fussing around 11, a feeding at 12:30, then nothing else until almost 5:00. The non-feeding incidents required no more than putting a pacifier back in Phoenix’s mouth and setting him back up on his boppy. And then at about 6:15 this morning Tristen found him fully out of his sleepsuit and turned completely around, with his feet up on the boppy. In light of that, we’re taking away the sleepsuits tonight and replacing them with footy pajamas to see how they do. So far I’ve had to go into the room to settle Phoenix down four times, and it’s not even 10:30 yet. …

Milly Dotsey and the Order of the Phoenix

I think it took about a year, but Milly finished Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix yesterday. I think she sped up because she wants some new headphones and I told her I’d get her some if she finished by Wednesday. There was also a lot of action at the end of the book, and I could tell from watching her read it that she was enjoying it. Since she finished the book we watched the movie last night. Tristen joined us for about half of it, but she faded out and went to bed after a bit. Milly, Fawkes, Phoenix, and I were going to take a walk to the store at the end of the street yesterday morning, which, according to Google Maps, …

Jackson Week

My nephew, Jackson, came to stay with us this past week. Addy, his sister, had a dance competition in Myrtle Beach so my sister, Andra, brought them here from Gastonia last Friday and stayed the night before heading on down to Myrtle Beach, the car one person lighter. On Saturday, Laura and Craig brought us a magnolia tree to plant in honor of the birth of Fawkes and Phoenix. If I had my druthers we’d have gotten rid of the pine trees in the front yard and planted it in place of one of those. They’re very large trees though, meaning they’d be pretty expensive, resulting in them still being there. And as a result of that, the tree was …
