Happy Birthday Jason Revill

Today is Jason Revill’s 31st birthday.  He’s my oldest friend.  Not in terms of age- I mean, he’s only 31, but we’ve been friends since kindergarten.  I hope you have a nice day, buddy. I got up this morning and mowed the lawn.  Well, I was going to mow the lawn, but I couldn’t get my mower to start for anything.  I ended up borrowing Bonnie and Dave Narron’s mower from across the street.  I only mowed the front lawn, but when I took the mower back I noticed the knob holding the left side of the frame you push with had come off and I spent some time looking for it to no avail. Kyle and Lorin Van Zandt …

Milly’s First Shopping Trip

We had another good night of sleep last night.  In fact, we went ahead and woke Milly up at about 3:00.  She was a little fussy at the time, but she wasn’t fully awake.  Amanda figured it would be better to go ahead and get her started on a feeding before she was full-on crying.  She woke us up herself around 6:30.  We went back to sleep and woke up again around 9:00.  Just like yesterday, Milly’s been eating every couple of hours. I did a bit of work in the nursery today, hanging up a thing Amanda’s grandfather made so we could put up the mobile, putting up a couple hooks and two curtain rods to hang the curtains …

Milly’s Big Surprise

Remember how I bragged yesterday that Milly only got us up a couple times her first night home?  Her second night was nothing like that.  I think she woke up wanting to feed every hour, and since Amanda’s not able to lean over to pick her up out of the cradle yet, not to mention that she’s slow to move around on the bed due to the c-section surgery, we both had to get up every time.  It was miserable.  At about 7:00 or 8:00 I took her downstairs to sleep on my chest. Despite this, my new daughter continues to astound me when I look at her.  Somehow, Amanda and I made this new little life.  She moves and …

Milly’s First Full Day Home

Milly woke us up at 3:30 and 7:00 this morning, which I figure is pretty good for a brand new baby.  Let’s hope things stay as easy as that. I did do a little bit of work today, banging out a proposal for someone I talked to a while ago who wanted to start moving forward with a project.  Hopefully that’ll go through, because we’re down to one income for now and this month hasn’t been the most productive for me, commission-wise. Karen’s been such a huge help.  With Amanda recovering from her surgery she’s not able to lift or bend over much and she’s not very fast at getting around.  I know Amanda wishes she could do more, but …

Bringing Milly Home

It rained pretty hard last night, but we slept pretty well.  I noticed in the early, early morning that it was raining, but that’s it.  We were afraid we’d be taking Milly home in the rain, but the sun came out and it cleared up nicely.  It took a little while and talking to several people (all procedure), but we were finally discharged and Amanda got to carry little Meliamae out into the great wide world. After loading Milly in the car seat we made the arduous trek across 17th Street to the bank, where I wanted to get some cash.  While I was at the ATM, Billy Supplee and Cyra Sherburn, both co-workers of Amanda’s, pulled up.   Amanda later …
