Valentine’s Day 2012

Milly was very friendly and playful today.  We were monsters: princess monster, tickle monster, happy monsters; we were princess and king, and Amanda, though absent, was queen; we were doggies: king dog and princess dog or baby princess dog.  Milly wanted to keep giving me tackles.  She also wanted to talk with Wolverine, which involved me holding a Pez dispenser and talking to her in a gruff voice.  She also had me give her two ponytails, which Amanda later turned into braids. She sang a lot too this morning: ABCDEFG, The Bitsy Bitsy Spider, Row Row Row Your Boat, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, I’m a Little Teapot.  She also started singing You’ve Got a Friend in Me, so I found …

Could Have Been Worse

Milly’s sleeping in more in her cardboard house.  Maybe it’s because it’s darker, or warmer or muffles sound a bit better. Feel like I’m getting somewhere with my work.  Balancing between getting my existing clients moved to my server and filling out content on my own site.  I’m done writing, but I still need to add call to action buttons, figure out the best way to let people buy services, eventually add some photos or graphics and so on. Made a couple instructional videos for a client. Dreary most of the day and rained in the afternoon, so I didn’t go jogging. Amanda’s been wanting to give Milly braids like Callie’s and Milly finally let her do it today, though …

Milly’s House

Milly got up at 7 today.  I took a quick shower and she was sitting on the potty with her panties down when I came downstairs.  Kept her entertained until Karen showed up.  She wanted to wear her Blue Devil dress (a Duke cheerleader outfit) which made me proud. Karen brought a big cardboard house.  Takes up like a third of her room.  Milly later napped in it and went to sleep in it tonight.  Threw out her old cardboard box which Kirsten had decorated and the Frazelles gave to her last Christmas.  Really hated to do it, but it had milk spilled in it some time ago.  Maybe I could have just cut out the bottom, but it’s too …

Lions, Languages and Owls

When I got Milly up this morning she told me she was a lion.  Then she said she was a mommy lion, then she told me she was Nala (Simba’s friend from The Lion King, for those who need a reference).  Then she said I was Grown-up Simba.  Then we went downstairs and spent the morning in the office so we could stay warm. Milly continued her potty training and, as I said she would be doing yesterday, carried the bowl to the toilet to dump it every time she used it.  She didn’t get any pee on her hands or shirt today, since I helped direct how she poured it.  Not related to that at all, she also helped …

Introducing an American Christmas Tradition

On the matter of Milly’s potty training, I feel confident making this statement: When naked, Milly is completely potty trained. There were several times today that Milly used the potty all on her own with no prompting from me or Amanda. The last time this evening she didn’t even tell us she’d gone; Amanda just happened to see something yellow in the potty. She had a cloth diaper on twice today, and she peed both of those times, but not very much. I think she’d holding it. So the next phase is to get her used to telling us when she has to go, or get her comfortable using her pullups. She did ask for “pretty candy” today. I wasn’t …
