Music, Mom and Dad

We’ve had a lot of music the last few days, as well as a lot of Mom and Dad. Tristen was an early adopter of Nathaniel Rateliff to the point that sometimes when I hear his music I think of Tristen listening to it while she’s making dinner and such.  She found out that he was going to be at a free show in Raleigh a while back, so we decided we had to go. My brother-in-law, Josh, is also a fan, so we talked to him and my sister, Andra, about going.  They were all for it.  I mentioned it to Erin, who is with Andra and Josh now anyway, Adam, who I think was going to be out …

Wandering Belle

I recently made a playlist of Disney music for Milly on Spotify and we spent a bit of the morning dancing to that.  When the song at the beginning of Beauty and the Beast came on, Milly, who was already in her Belle dress, got a book and wandered back and forth in the living room, just like Belle does in her first scene in the movie.  I thought it was pretty funny. The Masons dropped Callie and Brynn off so they could go see The Hobbit around 10:00. Milly was excited to have Callie over to play with, but she was very talkative with Brynn, too.  Brynn has really changed quite a bit since Amanda was watching the girls …

Dancing to Disney

Didn’t sleep much last night, coughing.  Stayed downstairs so I wouldn’t wake Amanda up.  I heard Milly crying a little before 6 and went up to check on her.  She was saying she wanted her mommy, but I got her to talk to me instead.  She had a bad dream, something about a little man with a sword and her friends… I don’t know.  Anyway, we talked about nice dreams she could have and she went back to sleep after I stayed with her for the two minutes of bedtime music.  I got into my own bed after that, but then Milly got up at 7:00 and I couldn’t really get back to sleep, mainly because she was cheerfully chatting …

Money and Pancakes

I really enjoyed the end of my working day.  I drove out to a client’s place to business to collect a nice check for a site that went live today and deposited that while driving my very own loaner 2010 GMC Terrain with my iPhone hooked into it.  (The thing has a nice sound system.)  On the way home Amanda asked what I wanted for dinner and I told her I thought maybe something with some meat, and she said that she’d been thinking of pancakes, which quickly changed my mind.  I did stop at the store and pick up some chicken apple sausage though. Money and pancakes make a nice way to transition to the evening time. So yes, …

We Are Siamese

Milly started singing the song sung by the Siamese cats, Si and Am, on Lady and the Tramp today, over and over and over.  She would only sing one part though: We are Siamese if you don’t please.  Sometimes she’d do the ba-dum-bum-bum too. She also learned Brown Eyed Girl today.  I’m pretty sure I’ve played it for her and maybe even sang parts of it for her before, but it’s been a long time.  Karen said that they heard it today and Milly liked it, saying something about being a brown-eyed girl, and so Karen played it for her in the van after that.  When Karen was leaving she asked if Milly was her brown-eyed girl and Milly said, “No, I’m …
