Amanda’s Birthday Party

I was pretty busy today and wasn’t able to help much as Amanda got the house ready for her own birthday party.  Cyra came by around 4:00 and the two of them went to the Starbucks at Mayfaire to meet up with some other girls and drink some half-priced fraps then watch Dark Shadows, a Tim Burton film with Johnny Depp based on an old soap opera that Amanda and her mom used to watch.  All the commercials make it look like a dark comedy, but apparently it had a bit more to it than that, which I’m glad to hear. Milly and I took a walk down the street in the wagon and met the people moving into the …

Milly Finally Goes to the Beach

Yesterday we told Milly we were going to the beach, only for the day to be a little dreary and coldish (for a day at the beach) with the threat of rain hovering around, so we didn’t go.  Milly kept talking about going yesterday though, so we told her we’d try today.  After church, Atlanta Bread and a nap, we tried the beach.  The sun was warm and it was a pretty day, but the wind was cold. We ended up just hanging out at the Frazelles for a while.  Milly played with Barry almost the whole time while Amanda, Anna and Hannah looked at bridesmaids dresses.  Milly still kept talking about going to the big beach (as opposed to …

Chainsaw and Fire

Destructive sounding, no?  I wanted to destroy something, trying to get that chainsaw started today.  Karen dropped it off yesterday so I could cut up some of the great lot of branches overflowing from our fire pit in the backyard.  It’s supposed to rain the next few days and I needed it done by Friday, so when the opportunity presented itself I went outside and messed with the chainsaw for a while.  All I succeeded in was hurting my left pointer finger.  The pull cord got stuck so I took it apart to get it back in, and when I did it zipped right back into place and the handle you pull on smacked my finger. I could not get …

15-0 in Cameron Pacific

Amanda got home from work and we let Milly, who’s been sick, sleep in for her nap, as opposed to our original plan which was to get her home when Amanda got home and head off to my parents’ house.  She was nearly hoarse today and hardly sounded like herself when she laughed or talked. We left a little after 2:00.  There wasn’t much to the trip, though Milly did fuss at me any time I put my feet up on the dashboard.  (Amanda drove, as she usually does when we go somewhere during my work hours.) We got to Rougemont without incident and Milly took no time warming up to Mum Mum, Pap and Auntie Rin.  We hung out …

Milly at Yo Gabba Gabba Live

For Milly’s birthday, Anna and Barry got Milly (and us) tickets to go see a live show of Yo Gabba Gabba.  Today was the day. Amanda had taken the day off work and made waffles for breakfast.  Karen had forgotten a doctor’s appointment, so she had to eat and run.  Milly didn’t sleep for a while after she was put down for her nap, meaning she didn’t get to sleep much at all since we left the house around 12:30.  She was very cryish when Amanda got her up, which was to be expected. The show was in Raleigh.  Amanda drove so I could field any work calls that came in (there were none) and I sat in the back …
