Sunday Doze

Since Milly’s been sick we decided to put off church this morning so as not to expose her to the kids in Grow Zone (including, presumably, whichever one gave her the cold).  We figured we’d wait until later to see how she was doing, and since Milly didn’t seem to he coughing after her non-nap, we went to the 4:00 service, where Jeff Winchester, giving the message in place of Mike Ashcraft, gave me a figurative slap in the face.  It was a really great message about marriage and fulfillment.  It was capped off by a video presentation by a pretty well-known couple from within the church.  It was very moving in its stark honesty. I woke up early today, …

Sing, Anna!

Milly got to go hang out with the Frazelles this evening while Amanda and I went to a leaders meeting at Port City Community Church.  She got to eat spaghetti and Rice Krispie treats (a first for her) and play with Anna, Barry, Kookie, Connor and Cody (the latter two of which are not Frazelles, of course).  She was happy and in her pajamas when we picked her up and everybody was watching Wonder Pets.  Anna said Milly got agitated when she wouldn’t sing the songs with her, getting right in her personal space and strongly imploring her to “Sing, Anna!” The Frazelles let us borrow another car tonight.  Amanda’s taking the Jetta to get new tires tomorrow and got …

Milly’s Mother Knows Best

I was up a little after 6:00 this morning so I could go run a camera at church.  The music was really good today and featured an opening song, Plan B, by MUTEMATH, as sung by Lee Hester.  It was a lot of fun to shoot. Before the first service, Chris Kuhne told us all that he had done a wedding the day before and a woman from New Jersey told him that she hadn’t found a church home that suited her up there, but she loved Port City and watches the services every week.  She said that the highlight of her weekend was going to be attending a service in person.  This from a lady who was in town …

Connect Four Domination

I was driving in the car with Amanda to my right and our girl in the middle seat behind us.  Amanda was talking about something and we were at the stop light at Eastwood and Market.  I waited for her to finish talking, then I told her that I didn’t feel like I had unwound yet.  The last  couple hours of my day had been spent doing a lot of thinking with an emphasis on marketing and search engine strategies.  We had plans to meet the Johnsons for dinner at 5:00.  They called and pushed it back to 5:15 and we ended up being a little later than that.  I was hurrying through emails to finish things up for the …

PC3 Improv

Michael and Jenn came over to watch Milly tonight so Amanda and I could go to a leaders meeting at Port City Community Church.  They had a cookout with hot dogs, lots of chips and desserts.  They then had an improv show that was put on for us, and that was a lot of fun.  Sure, some of it was a little cheesy, but a good portion of it was legitimately funny.  It followed a Whose Line is it Anyway? format and ended with a spotlight on Jeff Winchester, who is currently head of people care and will be the pastor at the new Leland campus of the church. For the bit about Jeff, the people doing the improv interviewed him about …
