First Time Technical Directing

I got up at 5:30 this morning to go volunteer at Port City Community Church.  I guess I’ve been doing that for about three years now (Really – wow!) but this was the first time I’d done it in the new church building. When  the church was held at Roland-Grise Middle School there was equipment, props, info booths, video stuff, lighting rigs, video screens and all sorts of other things that needed to be set up, so volunteers arrived at 6am to get things ready for the first service, at 8:30.  Since none of that stuff had to happen anymore I wondered about the need to get there so early. First Wilmington Sharks Baseball Game

I had lunch today with Michael.  His apartment is really close to where I pick up my paycheck (although they’ll be moving soon), so we went to J. Michael’s Deli.  Amanda suggested I try the Philly Cheesesteak Salad.  I had it, but with chicken instead of steak, and it was pretty yummy.  Amanda had given me a buy-one-get-one card for it so I just split the cost with Michael.  It ended up being about $4.50 each after the tip, which is pretty good. After that I picked up my check and whatnot then went back home to work for the rest of the day.  Amanda brought some Chick-Fil-A home for dinner before we headed off to our first Wilmington Sharks …

My 30th Birthday Party

I’ve still got three days before I actually turn 30, but it feels really weird to type already. Not the usual Saturday morning, this one. The downstairs toilet (that everyone would be using) was messed up in that it kept running after it was flushed unless you jiggled the handle mightily. Fortunately Josh was there to help out with that. Played with Jackson- we went looking for “landmines” in the backyard and swung on the hammock. Amanda, Ben, Jessica and I took him to Chick-Fil-A while Erin, Josh and Andra did some shopping and also got breakfast. Played with Jackson on the playground.
