Cozumel Trip 2017

Milly got her first international travel experience this past week on our trip to Cozumel, Mexico. Tristen and I went about two-and-a-half years ago. Tristen’s family has been going for close to 30 years, particularly her mom, who I think goes pretty much every year. They always go to Cozumel Palace, an all-inclusive right on the ocean. You can actually look out across the water and see make out a few buildings in Playa del Carmen on the mainland. You can see the lights there really well at night. Milly’s been very excited about going ever since we got that all cleared up, and Tristen’s mom, Laura, did a lot to help us make that happen. When we first started …

Addy’s Seventh Birthday Weekend

Most Milly weekends start out when I pick her up from school on a Friday afternoon.  This Milly weekend started out at about 7 AM when I picked her up from Amanda’s and took her to school.  I was a WatchDOG dad today, meaning I got to hang out at her school and help out around there. WatchDOGS I love doing WatchDOGS.  DOGS stands for Dads of Great Students.  It’s a volunteer program where a dad (or father figure) helps out around school for a day.  This was my fourth time or so and I signed up to do it once every month this school year.  Milly really likes it too, which of course makes me feel good. First we …

Cozumel, Part 1: Getting There and the First Day

Tristen and I left Wilmington Monday night a little later than we wanted to, but we did get to the La Quinta Hotel in Raleigh, well, Morrisville, technically, in time for me to watch the last few minutes of Duke trying to choke away a game to Florida State.  Duke won by three, so my night wasn’t ruined.  We went to a Wendy’s right next door after the game was over and got some food. There was a shuttle leaving for the airport at 5:00 (yes, AM), so we set an alarm for 4:45 I think, but we were both awake earlier than that.  I showered and got dressed then we went to the lobby, got some quick breakfast and...

Catch Up

I have been so, so slack on here. I haven’t even been making notes like I usually do when I get behind. I blame it on a few things. First, I was sick Milly and I both were, but she was for longer. She even had a night where she threw up. It seems like until recently we didn’t have a week go by this year yet where everyone was healthy. Secondly, I blame it on the Walking Dead video game. I was addicted to it, so I had to go ahead and beat it. I was like Heavy Rain, where it’s more like you’re playing out a movie than playing a game. It actually had some touching moments in …

Milly’s Choice

Milly still sick. Asked her this morning if she wanted to see Mum Mum and Pap or rest today and see them tomorrow. She chose going today, so we decided to go today. Fielded a few work calls. We stopped by Crabtree Valley Mall on the way to pick up a present for Callie and let Milly spend the money she’ll be getting for Valentine’s Day. She picked out a Naveen doll and a Charlotte doll from Princess and the Frog. Also stopped by a Target to pick up a gift card for Erin for her birthday/moving away gift. She’s moving to Maryland next week. Both of those are the reason we headed to town. Got to Rougemont. Looked into …
