To the Rouge

Went to Rougemont. Drove the Escape.  After 50 or so miles it had trouble accelerating.  Would kind of stall like it didn’t want to change gears or something.  Had us nervous.  Called the Jeff Gordon place and set up an appointment for Monday. Swam with Milly in the pool for a while. Milly went to bed with Mom and Dad. Andra and her crew showed up later than expected.  Had a couple traffic issues on the way up. Zach Dotsey

Beach Day with Most of the Hausers +1

We went to Beulaville for breakfast at Amanda’s grandparents’ house this morning.  Amanda’s (great-)aunt Joanne was there along with her mom’s cousin, Terry.  She’s moving with her job and looking for a place to stay in the general vicinity.  Karen was there too, of course.  Unless she’s out of town or something, I think she has breakfast with her parents every Saturday. Hausers plus Heiko minus Monique, who was working, came over.  We loaded the back seat down with car seats and all piled into Escape with me and Simon sitting in the very back to go to Wrightsville Beach.  Heiko sat in the back with me on the way home.  They both offered to let me sit in the …

The Amazing Spider-Man

Mom brought Milly in a little after 8:00 this morning and she hung out with Adam, who slept in the top bunk in the room we usually sleep in, which was originally Erin and Andra’s room but I think became Adam’s room at some point after I went to college.  I shared it with him one summer. Anyway, Dad had already left for work and Mom was working most of the morning.  Erin left for work at some point in the morning after breakfast (Amanda made eggs and I think toast, Erin made bacon) and Adam left a little after that.  Amanda and I scrubbed Harvey and Bruce down with flea killing spray then washed them both.  Kind of nice …

A Moment to Whistle

North Carolina native Andy Griffith died today.  He was best known for portraying Sheriff Andy Taylor on The Andy Griffith Show, which ran from 1960 to 1968.  (Thanks, Wikipedia.)  He also played the titular character in Matlock.  I won’t say I watched a lot of either show, honestly, but Andy Griffith was an icon. Stayed busy through morning, left for Rougemont around 2. I drive. Made one stop for Milly to pee at a McDonald’s in Cary, so Amanda got an ice coffee, I got a Rollo McFlurry and Milly got some nuggets. Got to the Rouge just after Dad got home. Unloaded our car and groceries from his then got in pool. Put swimmies on Milly. She was uncertain as I …

Crabs at the Little Beach

Church, Atlanta Bread, but no Barnes & Noble.  Went home so Milly could go ahead and take a nap, plans with Frazelles. Watched two Soups then took a nap myself. Met Frazelles at Lewis Farm. Girls and Anna picked strawberries and blueberries. Barry and I went to Holden Beach, expecting good waves. Drove about an hour, nothing there so we turned right back around. Enjoyed talking with him the whole time though. Wrightsville had some waves, but wind was on it so we didn’t bother. Milly, B and I went to the “little beach” (a small section on the Intracoastal Waterway side of Wrightsville Beach). Milly waded in shallow water and tripped, do I ended up taking her pants off like she …
