Rob and Carolyn’s Wedding

Milly was up around, I don’t know, 7 or so this morning?  She wandered into the room Amanda and I sleep in then went downstairs and entertained herself or was entertained.  Amanda got up around 8 I think and I got up closer to 9. We mostly just hung out for the morning after eating a breakfast of eggs and biscuits.  Mom went hunting in Virginia today (a fox hunt, which is more riding horses than hunting).  I put Milly down for her nap then Amanda and Erin played Just Dance while my dad and I went for a walk.  While we were doing that we saw Don, Dad’s friend, coming down his driveway with a pickup full of wood …

Digger

Did a little work this morning while Amanda took care of some laundry and packed for the weekend. Milly spent time playing with her toddler princess dolls then pretending she was a turtle in a laundry basket. We left around 1:00. Harvey wanted to come along, but Cyra’s watching the house this week and is taking her dogs with her to help keep Harvey occupied. We stopped off to see my friend Jason. He broke his leg on Christmas night so I wanted to stop in and see how he was doing. We might have stayed a little longer, but Milly was getting antsy. Still, we were able to cram in conversations about Duke, comic books and video games among …

Because You’re the Best Daddy Ever

Milly is such a daddy’s girl.  She was very excited to see me when she got home from spending the night with her Nana and Paw Paw and tonight after I finished working around 6:30 I went to the living room to play with her.  We watched the end of Cinderella together and then she said she wanted to play Candy Land.  I asked her why she thought I’d play Candy Land with her and she said, “Because you’re the best daddy ever.”  There were a few other little things like that that she said, and I loved it all. After Candy Land we played with her princess figurines and prior to all that Amanda and Milly went on a …

11th Birthday

Okay, I think I’ll stop talking about Bruce quite so much after this.  Today would have been his 11th birthday, so that was a bit tough.  It’s not that we even did stuff for his birthday all the time, but just knowing it was kind of hard. Milly came into my room this morning and after a bit of playing around I told her it would have been Bruce’s birthday.  We were sitting on the floor and I asked if she remembered Bruce.  She looked over towards the head of the bed, where she’d been playing with him the day he died when Amanda noticed that his breathing wasn’t right, and she said, “He got sick because I played with …

GG’s Birthday

I’ll start out by saying that the fact that we lost Bruce a week ago today did not pass me by in the least.  Around 10:00 I was thinking about the things I was doing the week before: petting Bruce under the bed, carrying him to the car, handing him over to the vet then getting the news, calling Amanda with the news, breaking down in the back of the PetSmart parking lot.  It was tough.  To make matters worse, we went to Richlands again.  It was bad enough just going where we went last week, but Bruce’s absence was even more pronounced for me. At any rate, I spent the morning doing what I did last night, which was …
