Skip Prosser, head coach of the Wake Forest Demon Deacons men’s basketball team, died today. he collapsed after a jog, from the accounts I read, and died of a heart attack. He was 56. Skip Prosser had coached the Demon Decons for six seasons I think. They had a really good season a few years back and had a really good team coming in this year. They were my number three ACC team behind Duke (obviously) and NC State. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and the Wake Forest community.

Kyle Van Zandt told me this when he and Lorin got here tonight for small group. I was shocked because I had been on the Duke Basketball message board that I go to earlier in the day and hadn’t seen anything about it.

Small group was a very nice one tonight. We ate around the table and discussed last week’s message, which was about communion, then partook of it ourselves. We also had ice cream cake for Rob Peterson’s birthday. He turned 34 on Tuesday.

I started reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows today, which is the last book in the Harry Potter series. It was widely known that someone dies in the book. They’ve already killed off one of the characters I liked, but I hope it wasn’t the one that was supposed to be a big surprise, since he’s not a major character. The big surprise will be if J.K. Rowling decides to kill off Harry Potter, Ron Weasley or Hermione Granger. I wouldn’t be surprised if a few of the other Weasley brood ended up dead before the book was done.

Slippery When Wet, a Bon Jovi cover band, is playing outside for free downtown tomorrow evening, so we might go to that. Not sure what our thing is with cover bands recently, as we just went to see a Beatles cover band, The Dung Beetles, not too long ago.
