Thanksgiving 2019

Griffin had a bit of a fitful night, which means that Tristen had a fitful night. I didn’t get in bed until kind of late, so when I did get in bed I was pretty much dead to the world until exactly 6:00, which is when Fawkes and Phoenix started making noise. I went in their room to try to settle them down so we could all get a little bit more sleep, but that didn’t pan out and we headed to the playroom probably less than ten minutes later. Fin Fin woke up too, but I let Tristen hand him off so she could go back to sleep for a little while. She was up again around 8:30 when …

So Long, Wesley

Very early on, possibly since birth, Griffin has had a bump on the left side of his lip, on the inside. I didn’t notice it right away, but Tristen said it had been there pretty much since birth. The pediatrician said it was nothing to worry about, but it kept growing as he did. Since his brothers were twins, we decided this growth on his lip was an absorbed twin and named it Wesley, which is one of the names Tristen liked before we settled on Griffin. When we brought it up again, the pediatrician said it was probably still nothing to really worry about, but he did say it might be what’s causes him to drool so much. I …

Why Won’t They Sleep?

Sleep. It’s been a tough subject around here the last few days. It went from some highs to some lows. Fawkes and Phoenix have been sleeping through the night for a long time now. I can’t even remember how old they were when we didn’t have to get up to change them or give them a dream feed. That’s been great. Griffin has been a different story. Because we don’t have a separate room to put him in, Griffin slept in a bassinet by our bed until he was about six months old. Because of that, any time he woke up, Tristen would just roll over, grab him, and give him a snack. Then, when he did get moved into …

Seven Months of Griffin

Today marks seven months since Griffin Fin-Fin Fin Fang Foom entered our lives. The last month has seen a lot of development for him. He started holding his bottle himself a couple weeks ago, though he’s still got to be tilted back a bit. That’s been great because when I’ve got all three boys during the week it frees me up to keep the other two from climbing onto things or falling off things they’ve managed to climb on or keep them from murdering each other over stolen pacis. Griffin started moving around a lot. It’s been kind of a sneaky thing. It started with rolling over, of course, but he didn’t even seem to be doing that very much, …

All My Kids in School

First off, happy eleventh birthday to my one and only niece, Addy! Milly had a first semester awards ceremony at school today. Spoiler alert: She got awards for perfect attendance and A-B honor roll. On most Thursdays, Torrie takes the twins after she drops Sebastian off at school and Laura takes Griffin, but Laura’s in Cozumel right now and didn’t want to fly back just to watch her youngest grandson for a few hours, although I was invited to go down there and drop him off. Milly’s thing was from 8 to 9, and Torrie doesn’t get back from dropping Bash off until close to 9, so I decided to take all the boys with me. It really didn’t go …
