Tattoos, Showers, and Steps

There’s been a ton going on in the last week or so, so I’m just going to list things without a whole lot of detail, even though several of them are pretty big. Last Thursday I received one a third of my belated birthday present, which was a new tattoo. My idea was to give my left arm to my kids. There was already a phoenix on my shoulder and upper arm, so I wanted to add a fox with a Guy Fawkes mask (because Fawkes’s name isn’t spelled Fox), a gryphon for our impending baby, and a snakeicorn for Milly. A what? A snakeicorn. It’s a creature Milly made up that is a snake with a horn and wings. …

Mall Babies

Phoenix is the one in the foreground in this picture, but Fawkes is in the background. First of all, I would like to give a shout out to someone who seems to be a fan of the site. I got a text message from a friend who has been going through some tough times, and I was told that on more than one occasion, this person clicked a link to this site from Facebook, read it and kept clicking on other stories at the end of that one. She always promises to try not to move around a lot, but of course she can’t help it.  I just don’t sleep very well when I let her sleep in my bed. But then she’ll sometimes curl up against my chest, and when she wakes up… oh when she wakes up.   She always has this look of dawning revelation that I’m there with her and this wide slow …

You Have No Power Over Me

Milly watched Labyrinth for the first time tonight.  She got tired towards the end, but unlike her old man, she made it all the way through.  I only dozed off a little though.  When it was done and I asked what her favorite part was, she said it was when she (Sarah, played by Jennifer Connelly) got her little brother back.  Milly really wants a little brother, so I suppose she felt some empathy there.  Never mind that it was Sarah being a lazy, selfish and spoiled brat that got him into trouble in the first place. I’m sure the following will be in my head the next few days though: You remind me of the babe. What babe? The babe …
