Not Dakota’s Birthday

Milly came into our room at about 1:30 this morning and told us she wanted to go downstairs to watch TV.  She was very upset that we wouldn’t let her do that.  I was sitting on the floor holding her and explaining it to her and, tired, I told her she could get in bed with us.  Or maybe Amanda did.  Either way, she slept with us for most of the night.  Keep in mind that we didn’t get in bed until sometime after midnight after playing Catan with Reece and Stephanie. Anyway, I thought Milly mainly did alright.  She did put her knees in my back at some point, and I think she scratched my back.  At another point …

Morning Dance Lessons

I didn’t get my workout in this morning because I was busy from the get-go, but a little later in the morning Milly decided to show me how to exercise and then proceeded to instruct me in a dance class. So that’s got to count for something, right? Amanda had bought some avocados for some guacamole a little while back and they were starting to go bad, so she made some more tonight for small group. She also made some cupcakes for Cyra’s birthday at work tomorrow (her actual birthday is Friday) and we took a few extras along to small group too. Amanda asked Milly if she wanted to try any guac, but Milly said she didn’t want any …

Dunks, Waffles, Books and Visitors

I volunteered at church this morning, running cameras.  It was a nice week to do it because I had the honor of helping film the baptism of Glenn, one of the other camera/production volunteers.  I don’t know him really well, but we work together sometimes and he’s always been good to talk to. On top of that, there was a waffle station set up backstage for the volunteers, and it made some of the best, light waffles I’ve ever had.  Aaron, one of the other camera guys, joked with me because I put powdered sugar, syrup and whipped cream on mine.  We likened it to Buddy the Elf and he called it a Dotsey waffle. And then, on top of …

Finally Taken

Today was mostly overcast and a little bit drizzly, so it was one of those days where once we got home from church and Mayfaire (along with a stop at Target), we didn’t feel like doing much. At Target Milly wanted to ride in a cart with two seats attached to the front, which Amanda and I relented on and allowed, though it was ridiculous because the thing was huge and we hardly had anything in the cart.  We went there to get pullups, which Milly just ran out of, but we also looked for jean shorts, which she needs for a dance event next week, and a belt, because some of her pants show her booty every time she …

Road Tripping with Nick

Milly up around 7:30.  Heard her stomp across the floor and bang on her door as I was trying to get the dogs to go downstairs quietly.  She rested in bed with me and Amanda for a bit, then we all played around for a little while. Nick picked me up and we took a long route to the Cains’.  The Cape Fear Memorial Bridge was closed so traffic was way backed up on 74 and the Isabella Homes Bridge.  Even worse traffic trying to get from Leland to Wilmington. Helped the Cains pack, total of about ten people so it went pretty fast.  Going to miss them. Nick and I were trying to decide how to get back home …
