New Head Coach for the Duke Blue Devils Men’s Basketball Team

Nick and Amy Warkentien came over tonight and brought with them the movie Vantage Point.  I think we all liked it pretty well overall.  I was expecting it to be more of something along the lines of Rashomon, where different people tell their recollections of the same event and either the true version is revealed at the end or else it is left entirely up to the viewer.  There were some things to nitpick, like several coincidences and questions of motivation, but either way it had good action and intrigue and a nice car chase.  Not a bad flick overall. Before all that Amanda and I finished off the leftover spaghetti from last night’s dinner (with Nick and Amy- we …

The Baptism of Don Senick

Today was a bit different from most Sundays in that we slept in a little.  Don Senick, a friend of ours, was getting baptized at the 12:30 service at Port City Community Church, so we went to that service to show him our support. I woke up at 6:00 and let the dogs out.  I went back to bed and woke up again about three hours later and decided to do something I think I might have done once years ago when Amanda and I were still living in Raleigh (although I’m not 100% sure), and that was to fix Amanda breakfast.  I made eggs, sausage and toast.  The smell of the sausage woke her up.  I heard her moving …

Amanda’s a Great Wife

Not a whole lot to talk about today.  Scott came up with a new service yesterday that I was able to present to a few clients today.  It got busy towards the end of the day- lots of phone calls and such.  I was going to go surfing, but I remembered someone I needed to call back and that ended up taking until well after 6:00.  By then, Don Senik, the maintenance supervisor where Amanda works, stopped by since he was in our neck of the woods.  He’d watched Harvey for us back in July when Amanda and I went to Kentucky, so he wanted to stop and say hi to his buddy. Anyway, by the time I was done …

Sandwiches

Scott and I spent a lot of time at work today doing some audits and discussing some strategies.  I sure do have a lot of freedom in my work. Amanda wanted sandwiches for dinner tonight so she bought some turkey and, at my request, some bologna.  Nick and Amy Warkentien came over and ate sandwiches with us for dinner.  They brought the condiments because we don’t have any sandwich condiments.  Personally, aside from ranch there’s not much I’d add to a sandwich.  After we ate we watched Anchorman, which, somehow, they had never seen. After they left and Amanda went to bed I played Catan with Michael (and lost- ugh) then Halo 3 on Xbox Live.  We were later joined …

Neverending Story by Limahl

I don’t know particularly why, but today went by really fast.  Not much to report on- I worked, I felt too lazy to go surfing despite a good surf report.  Amanda toasted a leftover waffle for dinner and I finished off the chicken apple sausage then we sat around and watched TV, mainly Saved, because nothing else really was on. I mentioned that Harvey reminds me of a luck dragon, so Amanda started singing the song for Neverending Story, so I looked it up on YouTube and, surprisingly enough, there’s a video for that song by someone called Limahl, which I’ll leave here for your viewing pleasure. And I always thought the person who sang that was a girl.  Apparently …
