Hurricane (Tropical Storm) Hanna Midnight Update

There’s really nothing to report as far as Tropical Storm Hanna goes.  It’s not even really raining here and there’s not a whole lot of wind, although a Weather Channel guy at Wrightsville Beach said the wind was gusting up to about 55 miles per hour.  Hanna’s still off the coast of South Carolina. After breakfast-dinner Michael and I played NBA 2K9.  I got ahead by two points early in the third quarter, but he still ended up beating me by about 30. While we were doing that Amanda was watching some episodes of How I Met Your Mother on DVD.  Michael and I kicked her off of that and we all watched The Mist, which I’d heard good things …

Weight of a Soul

It was back to work today.  It wasn’t terribly busy, but it was busy enough to keep me, well, busy.  I’ve got a report I’m working on for Scott to see if we can implement some exciting new ideas down the road. I was going to go surfing after work, but I had a headache all day and the prospect of paddling out didn’t appeal to me.  From what I read on the surf report though, it looked pretty awesome out.  You know, I just realized that I haven’t taken my new board out to Wrightsville yet.  Anyway, we’ve got Hurricane Hanna on the way and she’s stirring up some waves, and it’s supposed to be good tomorrow too.  They …

Campbell Fighting Camels- BCA Classic Champs

Knowing the game a little better now than I did, I decided to start over on College Hoops 2K7, still taking my first coaching job with the Campbell Fighting Camels, which is Amanda’s alma mater, as Coach Bob Redford (thank you, Jason Revill).  I signed up for a pre-season tournament and ended up miraculously knocking off Ohio State in the first round, then going on to beat Loyola, winning the game by breaking a tie with a Sean Dockery-esque three pointer at the end of regulation.  After that the Camels pretty much mopped up IUPUI to win the tournament.  IUPUI stands for Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.  I just looked that up.  With a name like that it seems like they …

Snapped Leash

Went to church, picked up some bagels then came home for a bit.  Left a message for Andra but she never called back. Lazed about a bit- I was worn out from surfing and tired.  Went to Wrightsville anyway after a bit.  Michael came to our house to drop off some laundry and went out with us.  Water was rough and choppy.  Jackson was there again.  Another kid talked to me too.  Michael says I’m their mentor now.  They could do much better, if they want someone to teach them to surf. I went out and the leash detatch from my ankle.  Got smashed a second time and it snapped again so I took it in and traded up, but …

First Time Technical Directing

I got up at 5:30 this morning to go volunteer at Port City Community Church.  I guess I’ve been doing that for about three years now (Really – wow!) but this was the first time I’d done it in the new church building. When  the church was held at Roland-Grise Middle School there was equipment, props, info booths, video stuff, lighting rigs, video screens and all sorts of other things that needed to be set up, so volunteers arrived at 6am to get things ready for the first service, at 8:30.  Since none of that stuff had to happen anymore I wondered about the need to get there so early. Well, we started off with a production and band meeting …
