Nick and Amy Warkentien came over tonight and brought with them the movie Vantage Point.  I think we all liked it pretty well overall.  I was expecting it to be more of something along the lines of Rashomon, where different people tell their recollections of the same event and either the true version is revealed at the end or else it is left entirely up to the viewer.  There were some things to nitpick, like several coincidences and questions of motivation, but either way it had good action and intrigue and a nice car chase.  Not a bad flick overall.

Before all that Amanda and I finished off the leftover spaghetti from last night’s dinner (with Nick and Amy- we sure do see them a lot).  We were watching South Park while we were eating and Amanda had it in her mind that I should go ahead and clear out all the recycling stuff that was laying about the kitchen.  I told her I’d do it after South Park, but I got the impression that she wanted it done then.  She also asked if I’d pick up some hot chocolate from the grocery store while I was there.  Apparently she’d asked me to get the Nestle hot chocolate, but I didn’t hear that and got some Swiss Miss.  That wasn’t a huge problem, but I got the one with lots of marshmallows, and the only one with lots of marshmallows happened to be fat free.  Amanda didn’t want fat free or marshmallows, so I took it back and got the Nestle.  It was about fifty cents cheaper too.  I don’t know if I’ve ever returned anything to a grocery store before in my life.

When I got home the first time Amanda was talking to my little sister, Andra Sawyer.  I think I forgot to mention this before, but Andra’s got a c-section scheduled for November 14th.  We’re not going to be able to make it down to Gastonia for that I think.  Things are a little tight, and even though gas prices are down to about $2.77 now we just spent well over $100 going down there for her baby shower a couple weeks ago.  I really hate to miss the borth of my neice, but we will be seeing them the following weekend for Thanksgiving.  Andra wanted to make sure I took my good camera to get some nice baby pictures.

Not too much else to write about for the day.  I had lunch with Amanda and two of her co-workers, Billy Supplee and Cyra Sherburn.  I was out picking up and depositing my paycheck around the time they were going out so I just met them at Five Guys Grill (or is it Two Guys, I can’t remember) at Independence Mall.

So, there’s a new head basketball coach for the Duke Blue Devils men’s basketball team.  Coach Krzyzewski retired and his position was filled by one Bob Redford.  Yes, if you’re keeping track, I’m just talking about my career mode in College Hoops 2K7.  I had several seasons at Campbell, highlighted by three consecutive championships, then won back-to-back championships for Ole Miss.  The latest one, fittingly, was in a victory over UConn.  So I got to beat them and was then offered the coaching position for Duke.  I had a pretty good class coming in for Ole Miss, but I couldn’t pass up the Duke job.  I was able to add a few more commits to the ones the school already had before I took over and ended up having the top recruiting class in the nation.  Go Duke!
