Iron Man’s Salvation

I’ll admit, Toy Story has warped my brain. I can’t help imagining stories for the toys my kids own sometimes. For example, there’s a little farm set we have, and Tristen let one of the boys take the brown cow to the bath one time, where it stayed for several days. In my mind, the cow knew it wasn’t a bath toy and wanted desperately to get back to the farm to be with the farmer, the horse, the pig, the white cow, and the gorilla. Yes, there’s a gorilla because it’s similar in size and make to the farm animals, and since it’s an animal and has nowhere else to go, it became part of the farm. The other farm toys …

Where TF is Tristen?

I blearily woke up this morning to the sound of the kids being awake, but I saw that Tristen was already sitting up. I said something about how she can lay back down thinking about how I was planning on getting up to take care of the kids and she could take her turn Sunday, but she said her alarm had gone off a few times already. “Guess she must have forgotten to turn her alarm off and now she’s awake anyway,” I thought as I rolled back over and fell back asleep. She  gave me a kiss and I think I said something about making out, and then she said something else, maybe about the kids? I can’t remember. …

Mother’s Day 2020

or… The History of the Marshmallow Song or… Griffin is a Walker On weekends, Tristen and I generally take turns getting up with the kids. One will get up when we hear them, generally around 6:30, and the other will sleep in until around 8:30, 9:00. (Although last week Tristen stayed down until almost 10, but I figured if she was down that long, she needed it.) The other parent takes over after that and lets the first parent do what they need, like going to the bathroom. Whoever got up first will often go lie down for a while and get a little more sleep in if possible. I told Tristen on Friday that I’d take Sunday, it being …

Milly’s Return

When everything went down with the lockdowns and all, Amanda and I had a discussion and decided that since the weakest link to spreading the coronavirus was Tristen’s work with the hospital, we were going to have Milly stay just with Amanda for a while. Milly’s last time with us was March 17. Milly and I texted and FaceTimed much more often, but since the last time she was here, I saw Milly only once; the Saturday before Easter. To be clear, Amanda was in no way trying to keep her from me. She would, I think, have been open to me getting her, and legally I could have if it became an issue (which, again, I don’t think it …

Griffin’s First Birthday

Milly’s first birthday was on a Monday. She had a weekend party with friends and family and a trip to Greenfield Lake to play on the playground there on her actual birthday. Fawkes and Phoenix’s first birthday was on a Sunday. Friends and family came and celebrated it. Johnny and Torrie even brought a bounce house. Griffin’s first birthday was smack dab in the middle of a global pandemic, so the poor fella didn’t get a big birthday. It wasn’t a bad day though. Lately all the boys have been waking up right as or after Tristen leaves for work, but today they were awake in time to see their mama, so she greeted the birthday boy with a rendition …
