Milly was supposed to go to Callie’s birthday party today, but that didn’t happen.
Late in the morning, around 11 or 11:30, she ran to the bathroom. Everything was fine. A few minutes later she ran back, but this time her stomach was hurting really bad and nothing was happening. I sat with her there for about half an hour until something did happen. She jumped up and threw up.
I’m not sure what happened. I don’t know if it was a stomach bug or it was something she ate, although I don’t think she ate anything I didn’t eat today or last night. It was pretty bad though, and she even said herself that she didn’t think she should go to Callie’s party. That tells you something.
I called Greg and told him Milly wouldn’t be able to go, so he said maybe they could set something up for later in the week. [Milly ended up going to Callie’s on Callie’s actual birthday.]
At one point Milly told me, while huddled up under a blanket, “Usually when I hurt, what makes me feel better is love and kindness.” If you can look at the picture here and imagine that little girl in it saying those words, it’ll melt your heart at least half as much as it did mine. And so I gave her some love and kindness.
We cuddled a bunch and watched Duke lose to Louisville. Well, I watched. Milly fell asleep.
After she woke up she kept running to the bathroom, but she wasn’t throwing up anymore. We watched Spirited Away. The main character, Chihiro, reminded me a lot of Milly at the beginning of the movie.
