Duke played Florida Gulf Coast tonight and got off to a slow start, but ended up winning 88-67 behind a career high night for Mason Plumlee (28 points, 10-11 free throws).  Rasheed Sulaimon had 19, and he’s already doing so well that we Duke fans are afraid we might lose him to the NBA a lot sooner than expected.  With the win, Duke has now surpassed their previous record of consecutive home non-conference wins, sitting now at 96 games.

In other college basketball news, NC State, who has been very hyped coming into the season, got blown out by Oklahoma State to the tune of 76-56 in the final game of the Puerto Rico Tipoff Tournament.  Yikes!

The rest of the day was rainy.  I heard the rain before I got out of bed and it’s still raining now.  I don’t think it’s stopped at all.

Milly was a ball of energy this morning.  She was showing everyone at church her sparkly blue shoes and would yammer on and on and on.  It was cute.  Afterwards she and Callie were doing what Milly likes to do after every service, which was to run up and down the rows of seats in the big auditorium.  I like seeing her little head bob up and down as she’s running all around the place.

We went to Atlanta Bread, as usual, joined this morning by the Masons (sans Allison, who was playing keys today).  We skipped the trip to Barnes & Noble though because of the rain.

Milly went down for a nap when we got home.  Amanda and I watched a couple shows then Milly wanted to watch Pinocchio when she got up.  I played a bit of Dragon Age 2 and Amanda started working on some Christmas gifts.

Amanda made pancakes and eggs for breakfast.  When we were done with that, Milly and I played with blocks and read books.  I got her to write her name in the front of a book she got from Chick-Fil-A, and for the first time we worked on getting her to write her last name. When we got to the E she asked, “Is it the one with the stripes?”  She drew the three horizontal lines, but she neglected the vertical one.  She also drew the T inside the O and I don’t know what she was doing with the Y.  Still, for a first attempt without asking for any help, it was commendable.

I should have mentioned this earlier, but a few days ago we ran out of pullups.  Milly’s about 50-50 on whether or not she pees at night, so we thought we’d take our chances.  Amanda went ahead and bought her the promised reward, which was some Hello Kitty panties.  Well, she’s 1-2 so far.  One dry night, two not dry nights.  This morning she got out of bed right after I got out of the shower, and I talked to her before she got into our room (the first place she goes, now that she can get out of her room on her own).  She told me she was dry, and her panties felt dry, but I smelled that she wasn’t and I her shirt was wet.  Oddly, none of her blankets were wet either, but the sheets were.  It was a mystery I haven’t figured out yet, and no, she didn’t change her panties.
