I finished A Feast for Crows tonight, so I don’t know what I’m going to do for the next week while I have no George R. R. Martin A Sing of Ice and Fire books to read. Even worse, I don’t know what I’ll do when I have to wait a year or more before the next one comes out after that. At the end of A Feast for Crows he notes that he “devoutly hoped” to get the next book out in the next year and had signed it June of 2005. I’ve really been spoiled by getting to read it all together. I’m guessing he’ll have the next to books done before too long though, as I expect he’ll have it all done before the HBO series catches up.
I enjoyed the book, but my one complaint was that there wasn’t enough about a lot of the other characters, such a Jon Snow, Tyrion and Daenerys. I was glad to see that he’d actually addressed that in the final “chapter” which was entitled Meanwhile Back on the Wall, which actually had nothing to do with the Wall and was merely a note that he had too much stuff to put in this book so he split it in half by characters. The downside to that is that I’m guessing we won’t get any or much of Jamie, Cersei, Brienne, Sansa or, most of all, Arya.
Ah well. Something decidedly bad happened to a really bad person in the series though. Finally.
Milly was sent to the corner from the dinner table (where she ate at the big table with me and Amanda) for taking egg off of her plate and not putting it back on. Other than that though, she was really, really good today, and very fun. She spun around to get dizzy and asked me to help her with that at times, we bounced on the bed together and when we watched Cars this evening she snuggled up on my lap with her blanket and paci. Amanda found The Incredibles so I played Bounding for her. It might well be my favorite Pixar short, but Milly didn’t like it.
A little bit ago Amanda called me upstairs and said Milly was asking for me. She’d awoken and was crying and when I got up to her room she was on the floor with a blanket lying across her larger pillow. She just wanted me for a little bit, so I covered her up and put my head next to hers. She looped my arm in hers and we just stayed there on the floor for a bit. When I got up to go she said she wanted to get in the bed, so I picked her up and put her down in it. I’ve had the monitor on since and she’s made a few noises, but not for very long.
Work wasn’t too busy, but it never is the week of the Fourth. The main thing that kept me busy was that billing notices had gone out and people wanted to pay them or had questions about them.
After Milly went to bed Amanda and I watched another episode of Falling Skies. They did a few things that didn’t make much sense to me, but the kid waking up in the middle of the night presumably under alien control has me intrigued for the next episode.
