Karen and Amanda were out shopping most of the day. Amanda was exhausted when they got back- she’s been sick and being out on her feet all day didn’t help her. I didn’t do much of anything in that time except play some Civ 4 and go to the grocery store. I was in the mood for some cream horns (a fondness for which was passed down from my mother). The cream in it was a little runny though, which isn’t how it’s supposed to be, so I got a little in the car on the way home.
Amanda and I went to a party at Chris Mowbray’s house. Chris(ta, formerly with the last name of Schoch) was a friend of mine in high school and is now Amanda’s boss. She and Dave have a really nice house, and to get to it you go down River Road, which I think pretty much follows the Cape Fear River and is mostly wooded. I never knew there was so much wooded area so close to the main part of Wilmington. Anyway, we had a nice time. Amanda introduced me to a few people she works with but I ended up spending most of my time talking to either Chris’s brother Brian (whom I also knew way back when), and his wife or Chris’s parents, who were always really nice, fun people.
Chris’s mom showed us some pictures someone had taken of the family, but they were all very blue (I think the white balance was off). I offered to fix them up, and after we grabbed a tin of cookies (Chris had made a crapload of different kinds of cookies for people to take home) and went home I fixed up the pictures and put them on a CD for them.
Also, during the day, Carolina beat Kentucky, at Rupp arena. I must have been a little prescient, because I forgot to watch the game, and I’m glad. Kentucky was ranked 10, and Carolina’s still unranked. Sadly, both of those will likely change in directions I don’t like.
