I woke up at 5:30 this morning to help set up at Port City Community Church but I’d forgotten that since it’s summer now, not nearly so much stuff has to be set up or broken down. Most of my morning I wasn’t doing anything. I did talk to Matt Davis and Kirsten (pronounced Kearsten, and I can’t remember what her last name is) a bit. Matt I haven’t really talked to much since he and his wife Melissa came over for dinner a while back, but it was good to catch up with him. He said they were looking for a house to buy now, and they really liked our house and the area we live in. Kirsten and I talked about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
I wasn’t feeling very on today with my video directing. During the first service we only had three cameras and one of them was unusable for a song and a half or two because we couldn’t get the GUI display to turn off and it was coming through the monitors to the live feed. Other than that though I just felt like my timing was off a bit and that I wasn’t as with it as I usually am.
Of course it didn’t matter anyway because it turned out that the deck we record to didn’t have the video hooked up anyway.
I got home around 2:00. Amanda and Michael, who had gone to the 10:30 service together, were out at Sam’s and looking for a gift for Anna Frazelle, whose birthday was Friday. I caught up on my Global Conflict games. What sucks about playing an online turn-based game like that is that you get one turn, and you can take it starting twenty-three hours after your last turn. I had all my games staggered out- before work, lunchtime, evening and later at night. Over the course of the weekend they’ve all been scrunched to roughly lunch time.
Amanda and Michael got back here and Amanda and I took off to go to the Frazelles’. Michael was doing his laundry here and had another load to go. Amanda and I got out there at Wrightsville Beach and Amanda and Anna went out for a walk. I was going to go lie in the hammock and take a nap, but I ended up going downstairs to watch Hannah, Amanda’s cousin, and some friends hang out and paint some picture frames. It was kind of fun watching them just hang out and be goofy. When Barry (Amanda’s uncle) came by I told him I was sucking up some of their youth.
All the guys went out to surf and I told Hannah and the two girls there that I felt a little odd sitting down there with three teenage girls. One of them laughed and said she was probably older than I was. She was wrong though- I had her beat by four years.
After a bit Amanda and Anna came back. They’d walked to the end of the beach then to the water tower and back. We went inside to give Anna her gifts and such then left to go to Adam and Renee’s apartment. It was our first visit to Adam and Renee’s apartment even though they moved in in January.
We played a little bit of the first Guitar Hero, which Adam bought for the PlayStation 2 he’d picked up from his boss for cheap. It had a lot of really good songs on it, although the audio and video quality wasn’t nearly as good as on Guitar Hero II. It was, of course, a lot of fun.
Renee Sikes, my brother’s girlfriend, had fixed chicken, rice and vegetables. They were all really good. Well, I didn’t eat much in the way of the vegetables, but the chicken was particularly good. We played a game whose name eludes me, but it was a little similar to a Dominoes game. For dessert we had something else Renee had made which was like a giant Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. Muy delicioso!
I got my butt kicked at that game we were playing. Renee won overall. We left their place around 9:00 and came on home. I’m working a bit on all the pictures I need to work on. Not only do I have the ones from yesterday, but I’ve still got a lot to do with the pictures from my little sister Andra’s wedding.
