Something I forgot to mention about the Arctic Monkeys show last night- I think it was the first time I was at a show where someone threw a guitar on the ground. It wasn’t slammed and beaten and broken to pieces, but it was forcibly thrown.
Karen went home after Milly went down for her post-lunch nap. It was great to have her here. On top of just helping out with Milly she also took it upon herself to do some dusting and vacuuming and even did something out in the yard for a bit.
Speaking of the yard, I really need to do some mowing and maybe a bit of raking and burning soon.
We had rescheduled Milly’s baby video for today, but Matt got in touch with me last night and asked if he could take a turn moving it back. That was fine with us, because though Amanda went to work today she still isn’t feeling great. I’ve started coughing myself and my throat feels like it’s trying to fight something off. I started taking some stuff as soon as I started to feel like I might be coming down with something. I hope I don’t get what Amanda’s had.
Milly’s been really happy in the mornings lately. She’s been really good overall, entertaining herself at a good clip and really just exploring things. But in the mornings when I get her up she dances. Well, I don’t know if she’s actually dancing, but she’s so excited to see me that she stands up against the crib and rocks herself quickly back and forth. I love it.
The upcoming baby dedication is getting to be an emotional drag on me. There’s a limited number of people who can be invited and I’ll just leave it at this: It’s been the cause of stress and friction. In hindsight there are a thousand ways I should or could have gone about the whole thing differently. Can’t change that now, I guess. At least I got to have a heart-to-heart with a sibling.
