Amanda’s iPad arrived today, maybe an hour or so before she got home.  I decided to hide it in the dryer and asked her to check the clothes in there shortly after she got in.  She said, joking, as I often respond the same way when she asks me to do something, “No.”  She checked it anyway and then she didn’t do anything for the rest of the day.

Okay, that’s not entirely true.  We did go to Costco for some needed supplies (I joked on Twitter that we were planning on having dinner at Costco, but they weren’t handing out samples at the time) then stopped by Target to pick up some big girl panties for Milly (for when we decide to try another potty training method Amanda read about).

Amanda wasn’t a huge fan of the cover I’d gotten for it.  It’s one that a lot of people like and it folds up in ways that allow you to prop the iPad up against it, but Amanda didn’t like that it doesn’t cover the back and that if Milly were to play with the iPad (which is a certain thing), it would easily come off.  She also didn’t like that when it was folded completely open it didn’t seal itself up- par of it flapped off the side.  It is really cool though, in that it’s magnetic and clips right onto the thing.  She gave it a try but has decided to send it back.  She agonized over what case to get and ended up getting a case and a tote for it for just under what that one had cost.  She said she’d keep it if it hurt my feelings that I’d picked it out and she was returning it, but that didn’t matter to me at all.  I want her to have something she’s happy with.  It’s not like I made it myself for her or anything.

I had a meeting this afternoon that I thought went decently.  We’ll see in the near future.

Milly had a fun bath with Bruce tonight.  We asked her if she wanted to take a bath and she emphatically did.  As she was going upstairs she kept saying, “‘Mon, Fushie” (translates into “Come on, Brucie”).  Since she really seems to enjoy having our chihuahua in the tub with her, we threw him on in.  She proceeded to fill up cups of water and pour them on him.  The good thing is that she started pouring the water on herself too, and when Amanda needed to rinse her hair, she poured some water on Bruce then Milly said it was her turn.  So he’s helping.

Amanda’s watching American Idol right now, and one of the contestants, Haley Reinhert, sang Alanis Morissette’s You Oughtta Know.  Amanda pointed out that the other two contestants were only a year old when that song came out, which means it’s one they’ve always been aware of.  I just looked up songs that were popular when I was one, and here are a few:

My Sharona
Le Freak
I Will Survive
YMCA
Ring My Bell
The Gambler
In the Navy
The Devil Went Down to Georgia
We Are Family
Sultans of Swing
Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough

Just funny, I think, to think from that perspective.

So here’s a really weird thing.  The talk of Alanis Morissette and how old these kids were when she was first getting well-known made me think about how I saw Alanis Morissette back in high school.  I saw her at LJVM Coliseum in Winston-Salem.  The weird thing is that it’s such a fuzzy memory that I’m almost not sure if I actually did go see Alanis Morissette.  Maybe I dreamed it.  This is really bothering me.
