While I was at a meeting today Amanda texted me and told me she and Milly were going to Brilliant Sky.  Milly had a little bit of birthday money to spend and wanted to get a thing or two that she had not received from her birthday bin at Brilliant Sky.

A little before I received that text, I got a call from Nick Warkentien.  When I checked it later he said he and Eli were going to play some disc golf and asked if I wanted to join.  I had actually thought of doing that anyway, so I was certainly up for it.

I got home, did a little more work then headed out.  Work has gone well, by the way.  Of the two sites I want to finish this week, one is totally done except for some header styling I want to add and a contact form.  The second I’m hoping I can make a huge dent in soon, but a big chunk of it is going to be adding content.  Fortunately for me, I’m not on the hook for the content.

Nick suggested we do the back nine of the disc golf course, which was cool by me because I’d played there twice before and hadn’t had a chance to play those holes yet.  Nick and I both kept hitting trees.  He messed up a bit on the final hole, making the score a little closer; he beat me by one.

I realized how mental that game is today.  After finishing I threw all my discs at a clearing and then, because Eli really wanted to play the first hole, we played the first and just threw a bunch of discs.  What I realized is that if I’m not trying, I tend to throw farther and straighter.

It was extremely humid and one of Eli’s shoes kept falling off his heel (until he decided to just go barefoot), so we certainly could have gone faster, but it was a fun evening.

We found a disc sitting near the hole on the 18th.  I tossed it a couple times and liked it, but it’s got the owner’s name and number on it, so I’ll call tomorrow and let him know it was found.  I’d want someone to do the same for me.  For that matter, I’m going to put my number and email address on all our discs.

I came home to Amanda being wooed by a Kirby salesgirl.  I explained that things were going to be pretty tight coming up and the guy she was with ended up dropped about two-thirds of the price, so we got it.  Of course we were wowed by all the crud it was able to suck up, and it’s got a lifetime warranty, so we’re hoping we won’t ever have to buy another vacuum or steam cleaner.  We end up buying one every couple years, so I guess we can think of it as an investment.

Unless Milly wakes up before Amanda leaves tomorrow morning, which there’s a 50-50 chance of happening if we got by recent mornings, Amanda won’t see Milly again until the day after tomorrow.  She and Cyra are going to that concert that I got her tickets for for her birthday.  It’s New Kids on the Block, 98 Degrees and Boyz II Men.  They’ll be staying with Erica Flowers, who also happens to be going.

(Total side note: I can’t help but think about the fact that in A Song of Ice and Fire, Flowers is the name for bastards born in The Reach every time I hear that last name now.)

She spent a good bit of the night after we watched an episode of Revolution looking for the Boyz II Men CD she found at home a few weeks ago.  It was driving her crazy.  I helped a bit, but we never did find the thing.  I  wonder if she’ll read this though, and if she’ll notice what was left up on her iPhone’s screen.
