Jenna and Drew moved today. Tristen actually found the house for them when they started looking. We met them over there, what, a week or two ago? We convinced them to go ahead and move on signing papers to rent the place.

Tristen and I got to the place they’ve lived in downtown for three years or so. The two of them had moved a lot of stuff already, but there was a good bit left, including all the furniture. Drew had to work some this morning, so Jenna, Tristen, and I packed up what we could. Tristen went ahead and took a carload over to the new place shortly after Jenna’s parents, Sid and Donna, arrived with some Chick-Fil-A breakfast and a cooler of water. The rest of us started moving the big stuff on down to the porch and Drew arrived with a box truck a little bit later.

I’m going to miss the old place. Kinda, I mean. I just love the area, and every time I’m there and we’re walking around, I can’t help but think of what it looked like 100 years ago, 200 years ago.

The new place is a full house though, whereas they had one room and a shared kitchen and living room with a bunch of other people before. A couple of neighbors came over and later even brought them a bottle of wine.

We helped unload and set things up a bit before coming back home to shower and rest. We were invited to come back to go out to eat at Flaming Amy’s, so we went back over. Tristen continued to help put things away while I worked on getting the cable set up. It was a bit complicated because it was only running through one coax cable, and of course it was the last one we checked.

Jenna and Drew took showers, then we ended up going back to the house because Tristen needed to take some medicine and hadn’t brought it because we didn’t think we’d be out as long as we were. We came back and rode over to Flaming Amy’s, where Drew treated us to dinner as a thank you.

He told me something that I was surprised by, which was that I inspired him to keep working. There was one point, I guess, where he was about ready to be done for the day, then I came back from loading or unloading something and asked what was next, and that pushed him on. It’s a minor thing, but Drew is a very hard worker, and that he was inspired or impressed or whatever with my work ethic means a good deal to me. I can thank my parents for that.

After dinner we hung out at their new place for a bit, but I was just about falling asleep on Tristen as we were curled up on their couch. They wanted to go out downtown, but I wasn’t going to make it. I made a beeline for the bed and was almost asleep before Tristen got in the room after letting the dogs out.
