That’s Duke’s in-conference record for the season. Only three other Duke teams have been unbeaten on the road in conference play, so it’s a pretty nice achievement.
Duke got it by closing out the penultimate game of the regular season against Wake Forest. They played great for a while, but after they got up 23 they apparently got bored and let Wake get back to within six points. I was never worried, but I did roll my eyes a bit. That’s what this team seemed to do every game earlier in the season.
Amanda was in bed around 9:45 tonight. She was tired because Milly kept us up all last night until I made the bed and we moved down there. I could still hear Milly crying when I went into the guest room and closed the door. There was nothing to be done for her though. I’d been in and out of her room quite a few times. She’d settle down for a bit then cry again. She’s sick and snotty, so I can’t really blame her, but there’s only so much a parent can do for a sick child.
And of course she was up at 6:45 this morning, knocking on the door. I decided to go on upstairs and let her watch TV in bed while I tried to get a little more sleep. I wasn’t feeling great today either, so I wanted as much rest as I could get, for all the good it did. I’m stuffy, a little woozy and my throat has felt on fire at times today.
All things considered, Milly was pretty good this morning. While a bit needy, she wasn’t too whiny and spent a lot of the time resting on the couch, letting me get at least some work done. She told me twice that she wanted to go upstairs and take a nap, and the second time she actually meant it. She was down from about 10:30 or :45 until a little after 1:00, getting up right before Amanda, who worked just a little extra today, came home.
She’s sick too, by the way.
I had a talk with a guy I’ve known for a while about having him come on as a part-time independent contractor today. We discussed some details and came to an agreement, so I need to get some paperwork together and put some thing in place and he’ll start doing some work for me. Well, not really for me, but with me.
Milly was a bit rejuvenated this evening. After I finished working I went upstairs to take a hot shower and help clear out my nasal passages. Milly wanted to come upstairs and decided she wanted a shower too, so she washed my hair with magic shampoo (which is just what we call shampoo, thanks, Yo Gabba Gabba) and more cups of water over my head than I could count.
Later when we went downstairs Milly saw a ballerina on the news and took an interest, so Amanda showed her some ballet moves, which Milly, to her credit, copied pretty well. I was surprised at the balance she was able to show when kicking a leg up. She spun and danced for us for a while, and she the rest of the night she was Little or Baby Ballerina, Amanda was Mommy Ballerina and I was Daddy Ballerina.
After she went to sleep and before the game Amanda and I watched How I Met Your Mother and 30 Rock. 30 Rock ingeniously celebrated Leap Year, which is tomorrow.
I think it’ll be an early night for me. I’m tired from yesterday and my skin feels a little tingly. The only thing I’m debating is whether I should take the last of the Mucinex now or wait until the morning.
