After staying up late to watch Duke’s win over Clemson, I was awake at 5:30 this morning to go direct at church.  The dogs actually woke me up at 3:00, so I didn’t get a whole heck of a lot of sleep.

It was ice scraper cold today.  First time in quite a while I’ve had to use one, although to be fair I don’t exactly have to go out driving in the early morning all that often.

The doors were still locked when I arrived at Roland-Greis Middle School, where Port City Community Church holds services.  I guess whoever was supposed to open the doors just wasn’t up yet or something.  Once it was open everyone did their part to set everything up in time for the 8:30 service.  There’s a lot that goes into all that- setting up the stage, the instruments, the lights, the video projectors and screens, the Video Cafe with chairs and more projectors and screens, the places for the kids, audio recording equipment, cameras, intercoms, the video switcher and recorder, the information center, coffee, parking signs… I think that’s about it.  It’s a lot of work and it’s really impressive that so many people work on it every single week.

Things went pretty well today, although the first service was a little tricky for me with the directing as the camera operators couldn’t hear me.
