I started my day a little earlier than usual as I had to go drop off the Jetta and pick up a rental car. I got up after Amanda got out of the shower- actually a few minutes earlier since harvey was barking and we’re trying this new “when Harvey barks in his crate, go downstairs, hold his muzzle and tell him not to bark” thing, which worked for Amanda over the weekend. It had mixed success today. But I got up to do that while Amanda was in the shower then had a few minutes to kill before heading over to Coastal Carolina Collision. I think that’s the name of the place.
I got there and they called Enterprise for me. Enterprise had actually just been there a minute before, and if I hadn’t had a brain fart and second-guessed myself, causing me to not turn right onto Market like I was about to, then I probably would have made it on time. I couldn’t remember which way up Market from Gordon the place was. I was in the right lane, then I doubted and got over, then I couldn’t get back over. Anyway, it didn’t take too long for Enterprise to get back out there and pick me up. The Jetta is expected to be repaired by Friday, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
The guy who picked me up from the body shop for Enterprise was named Kelly. He’s a retired fellow who works one day a week to have something to do when he’s not traveling the world. The guy at Enterprise who got me my car and stuff, I think his name was Todd. They were going to get one car for me, I can’t remember what kind, and then they were going to get an Optima, but something happened and I wasn’t able to get either one of those so they drove me down to the other Enterprise place and I got a Mazda 6. I’d have preferred the Optima, but whatever. That whole thing took a little longer than it should have, but they were real nice.
I stopped by the grocery store and picked up some Cinnamon Toast Crunch (I was in the mood for some “fun” cereal) and some dishwasher detergent packs. Amanda had actually asked me to pick up some dish soap, not detergent. I didn’t know that she’d recently restocked the detergent, so now we have quite a bit of it. The soap, which is what I was supposed to get, was picked up on Amanda’s way home from work.
Speaking of work, it was pretty busy and I ended up working until almost 6:00, but it wasn’t as hectic as I thought it would be with me having missed Friday. There was plenty to do, and part of it was sorting through what had been done and what I needed to follow up on from my day away. It wasn’t too tough though, and I felt productive.
I met Michael for lunch at PT’s. For part of the time he was telling me about an issue he was having with someone, and as he was I noticed there were two cute girls at the table next to us and I thought about the show The Pickup Artist and how Michael could have used his situation as an ice breaker. “Hey, let me get your opinion. I’ve got this friend who….” I think I watched that show too much.
I wanted to go to the gym today since I haven’t been since before I got sick a couple weeks ago, but I like to try to be home around 7:00. the place is open for 24 hours though, so maybe instead of playing Halo at night I should take in some late night workout sessions. Or I could do like Amanda suggests and get up when she gets up and go before work.
Not much to really tell about the night. Amanda and I watched some TV as usual then she went to bed and I played Halo 3 with Michael. His roommate got on Xbox Live tonight, so I guess Matt will be playing with us more.
On a somber note, I was told today that one of my friends is gong to lose a baby she is pregnant with. She’s put the word out, but I don’t want to get into any details as I know it’s a very hard thing for her and her husband. My prayers go out to the two of them and their families.
On a related note, only in that it’s a medical malady, Andy Revill, the father of my friend Jason Revill, went to the hospital last night. There was something hinky with his chest, but they said there was no sign of a heart attack. When I talked to Jason today they were giving his dad a stress test. Andy was apparently feeling fine today though. I hope it’s nothing serious. Andy Revill’s like another dad to me.
