Thanks to my brother, Adam Dotsey, for the idea for the title.
Milly did not sleep well last night. I fell asleep on the couch and was debating going upstairs when I woke up around 2:30. That debate was ended when I heard Milly crying upstairs. I went up, changed her diaper, reswaddled her, put her sweetmaker back in and turned on the music on the mobile.
Around 4:00 she woke up crying again so after a few minutes I went back in and reswaddled her again. She was kicking a lot and I think she was a little stopped up (which she got over while I was feeding her around 8:00). The third time I rocked her in my arms, which I haven’t had to do to get her to go back to sleep since her first couple weeks of life. After the fourth time I went downstairs and got a blanket, grabbed my pillow off the bed and cuddled up with Milly on the rug in the nursery. It wasn’t comfortable, but I was able to hold her close to me and ball her up a little, which did the trick until about 7:10. I was going to go ahead and feed her, but we fell asleep on the couch and woke up again a little after.
Anyway, with Amanda being sick, I was on baby duty all day which means I had to turn down a surf session with Barry this morning. We planned on going to a party at Paul and Meagan Wicker’s place tonight, but we skipped out on that too. Amanda said I could go, but I’d have had to take Milly all on my own and I didn’t want to leave Amanda here by herself. Amy said she’d help with Milly (since she, Nick and Eli were going too), but mainly I didn’t want to go without Amanda. Not sure why, there are plenty of other things I’ve gone to without her. I guess it had to do with everyone else there (to my knowledge) being a couple.
Anyhoo, I had some fun with Milly today. We had some good talks and played a bit, even though we never really left the living room at all. I saw a commercial about talking to your kids about sex, so I went ahead and had “the talk” with Milly. She smiled at me.
Taking care of her all day also gave me a chance to see just how much Milly eats. It’s every three hours (except for the bedtime feeding), which comes a lot more often than you’d think.
Other than all that, we pretty much spent the day watched crappy TV. Started off with some SyFy movies, moved on to Dog Town then watched Girls Just Want to Have Fun, a dance movie from 1985 featuring very young versions of Sarah Jessica Parker, Shannen Doherty and Jonathan Silverman, as well as a couple other shows here and there.
Now we’re watching Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus on SyFy, starring Debbie Deborah Gibson. Amanda’s wanted to watch it ever since she saw a commercial of it this morning where the Mega Shark jumps out of the water and snatches a cruising passenger airliner out of the sky.
Adam invited me to go see Inglorious Basterds, which Amanda and I both want to see, but as much as I’ve been up today, and considering that I did get a small nap, but it was only a few minutes, I had to pass.
