The Devil’s Den is a Duke message board that I frequent. I think I’ve been reading and posting on the site since about 2006. Today I hit the 10,000 post mark. Yes, that means that I’ve posted 10,000 messages on the board. And yes, it’s a little sad. That said, there are people who started on that board a lot more recently then I did who have been above 10,000 posts for a while already.
I considered what to post for my 10,000th post. I thought about making a nice Duke graphic or writing something about Duke, or something funny bashing Carolina. In the end, I posted a message on the Shark Tank, the off-topic board, called “I love you guys (and gals)” with the message: “Thanks for being my online family.” I don’t care how sad or nerdy it is; it really is a pretty tight-knit group.
Amanda had On Demand episodes of Yo Gabba Gabba playing for Milly this afternoon. Usually Milly dances by just crouching, sort of bobbing up and down a bunch, but she was really getting low with it today. She’s started throwing in some arm movements, too.
Elliot and Melissa Clark came over for dinner tonight with Ella Jane. She’s crawling now. Milly took a little while warming up to having all of them in the house, but once she did she was giving Ella Jane kisses and trying to get Elliot to put shoes on her feet.
Amanda pulled out a bunch of Milly’s old clothes for Melissa to look through. I don’t know if Milly recognized her old threads or what, but she was really interested in all of it. It’s crazy how fast she’s grown and a little sad how much stuff she can’t wear now. She has a lot of cute clothes. Melissa’s going to mark all the stuff she took for Ella Jane to give it back to us in case we have another girl down the road.
Work was okay today. The marketing campaign we started yesterday has already had some inquiries and, more importantly, some bites.
On the downside of work, today was the last day of the month and this past month has been the slowest in a long time. I’m paid salary plus commission, and this month’s commission is way below the average. Fortunately, I was able to get a bit more work billed this past week, so it’s not as bad as it was looking a week ago.
I’m kind of tired right now. I did end up playing Resistance 2 last night instead of going on to bed. I’ve only got one level left and I might see if I can finish it tonight.
That sort of depends on if I can pull myself away from the episode of Dateline I’m watching.
Amanda and I had been watching a couple shows on the DVR and after they went off the TV was on NBC. We got sucked into watching a story about a college girl in Reno who had been abducted, sexually assaulted and murdered. I found myself hoping that she had been found alive until they revealed that they found her body. Towards the end of that story I told Amanda, “Stuff like that scares the shit outta me.” As the father of a girl, you can’t help but worry about that kind of thing sometimes.
