Exhausted from yesterday. Forgot to mention that while out playing disc golf I tripped over a root while throwing once and twisted my left ankle a bit. Not hurting terribly, but it’s a bit sore.
Anyway, almost decided to forego church this morning. Amanda, who was getting up, hopping right back into bed when I said that, but then I reconsidered. They usually do a little something for Father’s Day and it’s move-up day for Milly, going to the four-year-olds room.
The Father’s Day thing they did at church was a parody of Duck Dynasty where they had some dads shooting stuffed duck dolls with Nerf guns. The gun was messed up/jammed or something though, so it didn’t come off very well, which made it all the more funny.
Milly seemed to enjoy her new class.
Met my parents at The Oceanic for brunch, which they got as a Father’s Day gift to me. First time sitting out on the pier since they’ve been working on it. It’s now wider, I think, and covered. Weather was great and so was the atmosphere (and my French toast). Milly spent time playing with a beetle she found and chasing a bird back and forth on the walkway.
Went home, Amanda got Milly ready for her recital. We gave her her gift from Autnie Rin, which was a Belle doll and a Beast doll. The Beast doll could change (with a headpiece and a jacket) from a prince (Prince Adam, according to Wikipedia) to Beast.
Got there early for the recital, but didn’t get into the auditorium as fast as all that and had trouble finding spots for all eleven of the people coming… until I found the front row. I felt a little bad since we were all planning on leaving after Milly’s two dances.
Everyone got there though: me, my parents, Erin, Amanda’s parents and grandparents, Michael, Anna and Kirsten. Jenn was put on the schedule to work, Hannah was doing Father’s Day with Christian’s family and Barry was visiting his dad. Hannah did meet up with us afterwards though.
Amanda didn’t get to sit with us because she was pressed into service as a dance mom, had to help organize the chaos backstage. She said one mom got snippy with her and a few others. She did get to come out and watch Milly though. She was adorable, of course. Anna said later in the lobby that Milly was adorable, and I didn’t hear her quite right, thinking for a second that she’d said “horrible”. I laughed and said, “Well you didn’t have to SAY it!”
The recital was pretty good, actually, and if not for plans afterwards it wouldn’t have been bad to stay. Afterwards Mom and Dad headed back to Rougemont, Erin went to work on some papers and all the rest of us went to Islands and Fuzzy Peach.
When we got home Milly opened her presents from Nana and Paw Paw and GG and GP and Michael. Amanda had the idea to stagger everything out since we knew she’d be getting a lot, that way she’d actually play with a good bit of it. That was four days of presents though, from Thursday’s bike and helmet to today.
Milly spent a lot of time playing with a Lalaloopsy playset and a couple Lego playsets.
Amanda and I sat on the porch in our rocking adirondack chairs, just relaxing and reading or playing on our iPads. After she went to bed I decided to play a little Assassin’s Creed 3, knowing I wouldn’t have much time to do anything but work over the remainder of the week.
