Milly had a very busy day today.

I was up a little late last night and was lazing around, not out of bed yet when I got my first call of the day.  That one was from Amanda, who wanted to know if it was okay for Cyra to drop her puppies off today.  I said that was fine then dozed off again.  I remember hearing Milly talk to Cyra when she came with the puppies.

I didn’t really get back to sleep, but a little bit later I got a text from Allison asking if Milly would like to go play with Callie today.  So I got up, got dressed, got some decent clothes on Milly and took her over there.  Bryn was upset because she thought when Allison told them Milly was coming over, she thought she was talking about her grandmother, whom they also call Millie.

Amanda picked her up on the way home from work then they came home to have lunch and hang out for a while before heading over to the Millards’ house so she could play with Maggie.  Amanda came back home to read up on the small group study and make some guacamole.

When they got home Amanda told me that Milly told her that she was tired and thought her daddy should come carry her in.  When I walked outside and saw that Milly saw me through the car window she dropped her head and acted all sleepy.  I carried her in and was going to put her in the guest room, but she said she wanted to lie on the couch, and so she did.

Next up was Kookie.  Kirsten came over to babysit Milly and brought some pajamas because last week Milly told her they should have a pajama fashion show or some such, which they did.  Kirsten also brought her a Polly Pocket toy car, which they apparently played with most of the evening.  Milly talked to Polly Pocket and Kirsten talked for all Milly’s little princess figurines.

Small group was just us and the Meyers again.  The Sawyers were going to come, but the babysitter’s mother had a stroke or heart attack.  The Johnsons continue to be out of town and the Hausers will come back at some point.

Tristen, who had just had some color added to a tattoo on her lower back, was home, but Nick wasn’t when we got there.  He had just gone to buy a new car in Jacksonville and drove up with a brand new Escape.  He got the base model, but even that came with voice controls, Bluetooth and a rewind camera.

Aside: I often sometimes refer to reverse lights and other car reverse-related things as “rewind”.  If I remember correctly, I got this from Beth Matthews, a girl who graduated a year ahead of me in high school.  I’m not sure why that stuck with me, but I remember her calling the reverse lights rewind lights (not on accident, I think) and it’s just been in my head ever since.

Anyway, we took our time chatting and such before getting underway with the second week of our study of the book of Joel.  One thing we all noted is that if not for doing the study that goes along with the messages at church, a lot of the fine details would have been overlooked in a reading of the book.
