getting betterWhen we woke up this morning, Amanda and I could hear Milly coughing.  Our first thought was to just go to the 11:00 service to give her some more time, then we figured we’d go ahead and try to make the 8:00 because we don’t think she’s contagious anymore and aside from the cough and occasional sniffle she seems just fine.   But then after I heard Milly coughing more I told Amanda that I didn’t want to be the parents who took a coughing kid in to Grow Zone, so Amanda went on her own.  Actually, I texted Nick and Tristen while Amanda was getting ready to see if they were going to the 8 so Amanda could sit with them and they ended up picking her up.

While Amanda was gone I started reading Legislating Morality by Norman Giesler and Frank Turek.  I’m writing down my thoughts as I read it, so I’m not going to go into it too much except to say that as of the preface and chapter one I concede that morality comes into legislation, but I don’t think a religion’s morality should be ascribed to people who don’t follow it.  That’s a very short summation of my thoughts so far.

Milly also had me draw a picture of Spongebob and Patrick for her to color.

After she got back, Amanda, Milly and I went to Lowe’s to get some polyurethane for the steps.  Amanda applied it and I went back out to Target to pick up a trimmer.  I guess I left mine in Kentucky, but I had almost two weeks of totally uncontrolled facial hair and it was bothering my neck, so I had to do something.

I would have gone right after we went to Lowe’s, but it’s move-in weekend at UNCW and Amanda had heard horror stories about long lines and waits.  I was behind one person with a couple items, so checkout for me wasn’t at all painful.  I was there in the store for a while, but it was because I was trying to figure out which trimmer to get.

When I got back in the car I saw that Amanda had posted something on Facebook about the polyurethane fumes and wanting to get out of the house, so we decided to meet at Barnes & Noble.  We ran into Brent Holloman and talked to him for a bit.  I watched Milly while Amanda ran across the street to get some things from Ulta.

We were there for a bit and it was cool to see Milly’s growing independence .  She played with one girl who was building a tower from Legos and asked two older girls who were sitting in a corner reading books what their names were.  Not that those are big deals, but I like watching Milly interact with people.

After B&N we went to Brilliant Sky for a bit.  I drove Milly all around the store on a Roller Racer, then she did it herself a bit.  I had to run her down to Atlanta Bread for a potty break, but then she played some more.  She was given a rubber ball that she got to inflate herself using a new machine they have there.

We went on home after that and ate dinner.  Milly sat in a laundry basket in the guest room watching Tarzan on Amanda’s iPad.  The three of us just chilled for a bit until Nick and Tristen came over.  Milly had been looking forward to Tristen coming over ever since she’d gone to bed on Friday.

The two of them watched last week’s Breaking Bad while we got Milly to bed.  Kind of.  She was stalling and delaying, then she got up and asked for a cup of water.  We’re trying to stay off the stairs as much as possible for now, so we tossed a cup up to her.  I noticed she was still in the bathroom a few minutes later and asked her what was going on.  She was using the facilities.  I was irritated with her at first, but then she explained how she was using the facilities and wished me sweet dreams, then rambled on about the sweet dreams.  It was, itself, sweet.

Then when she did go back to bed she didn’t shut the door behind herself, which I reminded her to do.

Then we watched Breaking Bad and, an hour later, were left with the question: What will Jesse tell Hank?
