I hates Mondays, but How I Met Your Mother makes them a little bit better. Amanda just said that because How I Met Your Mother is about to come on.

For months now Amanda has said I need to hear Weird Al Yankovik’s White and Nerdy. She said the second verse described me pretty well. The second verse of Weird Al Yankovik’s White and Nerdy goes like this:

I’ve been browsing, inspectin’
X-men comics you know I collect ’em
The pens in my pocket
I must protect ’em
my ergonomic keyboard never leaves me bored
Shopping online for deals on some writable media
I edit Wikipedia
I memorized Holy Grail really well
I can recite it right now and have you ROTFLOL
I got a business doing websites
When my friends need some code who do they call?
I do HTML do for them all
Even made a homepage for my dog!
Yo! Got myself a fanny pack
they were having a sale down at the GAP
Spend my nights with a roll of bubble wrap
POP POP! Hope no one sees me gettin’ freaky!

Now, I do have a few X-Men comics (hundreds, really) and I do have large portions of Monty Python and the Holy Grail etched into my brain. And yes, I do work for a web design company. A lot of my clothes used to be from The Gap from when I worked there, but I think that speaks to the white portion of the song right? I mean, Gap’s not exactly nerdy these days is it, or am I just that out of touch? And I don’t have a pocket protector or a fanny pack. The last time I had a fanny pack was in the early nineties when everyone had them. I got it in Washington, DC and it was neon green. I don’t have a homepage specifically for my dog, Bruce. And who doesn’t like to play with bubble wrap? I don’t have an ergonomic keyboard either.

Oddly, Amanda hadn’t noticed the Holy Grail part of the song before we looked at the video online tonight. And as for things not in that verse that apply to me, I’m pretty good with trivia games and my MySpace page is tricked out a little.
So, back to work today. I felt it was a pretty productive day. There was a lot waiting for me from the extended weekend, but I followed up on the newer sales calls and caught up on the collections. Tomorrow I intend to finish up on a couple support updates and start back on the sales in earnest. Scott’s taking over maintenance for now. I guess we’ll see how that works out. I also have a minor meeting at 10:00 (just picking up a CD with some images on it) and another meeting at 4:00 with a former client who wants some help updating a new site of his.

After work today Michael and I went outside and tossed a football around. We started off in the yard but we ended up all up and down the road. In the process I met my next-door neighbor, Jeremy. Michael and I tossed the ball until Amanda pulled into the driveway a little after dark. I got the mail then and noticed that a few items were actually for my newly acquainted neighbor, so I took them over to him. His house, on the outside, is just like ours sans the porch. I checked out the inside though and it’s a lot different. There’s not a hallway coming out of the living room; you get to the downstairs guest room via a door next to the steps (where we have a closet). They have a fireplace in the living room, and it’s a bit more open since there’s no hallway but their kitchen seemed a little squashed back into an area. They have a single door going out to the back yard.

Their upstairs is finished, unlike ours. They also have attic access and a regular door at the top of the steps. Jeremy also had laid down laminate wood flooring, which looked nice, and I noticed that his steps, like ours, had once had carpet. He said he’d pulled them up.

For dinner I went out and picked up some Elizabeth’s Pizza. We watched a DVRed episode of (as hinted at up at the top of this post) How I Met Your Mother then Amanda watched The Class (which I skip out on every week) before Heroes came on. Heroes was, as always, good.
