Saying Farewell to Elmo

My mom called me yesterday morning with news that she had put Elmo down. Elmo had had some worrying lumps, which turned out to be pretty malignant cancer. Mom had thought about trying to put it off until after the holidays so everyone could spend some more time with her, but the vet told her she would be gone in a matter of days. Elmo was such a sweet girl. She got passed around the family a bit, having been taken in by Andra before she lived with my parents a while. She lived with Erin for a while, along with her (Elmo’s) best friend, Erin’s dog, Dolce. Tristen decided she wanted to have a bigger dog around the house, …

Thanksgiving 2018

Thanksgiving break officially started, in my book, when I picked Milly up after school on Tuesday the 20th. Normally I get her Tuesdays and Wednesdays, though she goes back to her mom’s house in the evenings. Since she was out of school on Wednesday though, and Amanda wasn’t off work anyway, there was no point in me taking her back that evening only to pick her up early the next morning. So Thanksgiving break started Tuesday afternoon, but it started in tears. It started in tears because Milly asked a question. She asked, “So what’s the plan?” The Thanksgiving plan involves getting together with my side of the family. This year, my side of the family was getting together at …

Nine Months (and One Day) of Twinning

I’m a little ashamed to say that we haven’t taken nine-month pictures on the couch in the boys’ room like we did the first six or seven months of their lives. (No, it’s not the first one we let get by us.) Maybe we’ll get on it tomorrow. Maybe. Probably not. So what’s new with the boys lately? The biggest news is that I found a tooth on Friday. Being babies, Fawkes and Phoenix like sticking just about anything in their mouths and so I have used that fact to check for teeth every morning. When I let Phoenix gum me (and he can gum pretty hard!) onFriday morning I felt what almost felt like a fingernail. There was definitely something …

2018 Halloween Stuff

We’ve had a pretty packed last few days. Milly spent most of Saturday playing with Abigail. They played with toys and dolls, which Milly doesn’t do too much aside from when Abigail comes over (though I like that she does it because it’s good for the imagination and it also shows she’s not totally grown up yet). They played Minecraft for a bit until we chased them off the Xbox and had them play outside. It’s been a little cold lately, but it’s been really nice out since the weekend. We were invited to the Holland Halloween party. Last year Tristen and I went as Chuck and Wilson from Castaway, since her belly was as very volleyball-like at the time. This year Tristen …

Tristen and Her Babies

Did a little photoshoot at Nonny and Pappy’s today and snagged this picture of Tristen and her babies. If you recall, I wrote in a post a few weeks ago where I mentioned that Sam and Berk brought some life-changing news with them. Well, it wasn’t their news they brought. Tristen had been feeling really ill since we were in Rougemont while playing refugees from Hurricane Florence. I even asked her if she thought she might be pregnant, but she didn’t think so because it didn’t feel like it had last time. Besides that, we had to do IVF to get pregnant the last time, so getting pregnant wasn’t something we even thought about. Anyway, she figured she’d check and …
