2019 Daddy-Daughter Dance

The last time we did this, Milly went to sleep an only child and woke up with two little brothers. Let’s back up a little first. We got some extra Milly time this week, from Wednesday to Tuesday. Because of that, I told Amanda I was fine with her having Milly Tuesday afternoon (usually my evening) and I’m letting her get her next Wednesday afternoon (also usually my evening). It’s a bit of a change of pace in the mornings since I don’t live in Milly’s school district, which means I have to drop her off, but Fawkes and Phoenix have handled it well. One really nice thing is that we didn’t have to rush through family dinner this week, …

Is “They’ren’t” a Word?

Fawkes doesn’t seem to like riding in the car too much lately. I took him and Phoenix to hang out with Nonny a few days ago and he cried most of the way there. Today when we went to go get Milly after school he started crying before we left the driveway. Usually when we pick up Milly I’ll give both boys bottles when we get to our destination while we’re waiting on their sister. Fawkes was so distraught that I gave them the bottles as we were leaving the neighborhood. I just didn’t feel like trying to handle that much crying for ten minutes or so in the car. He finished it a couple minutes later though, of course. …

Eating Out Just Got More Expensive

Most weekday nights these days, I fall asleep on the couch around 8 or 9:00. Tristen watches a bit of TV and gives me a kiss before going to bed. I wake up at some point in the night, usually around 1 or 2, do some work for a few hours, then head to bed around 3 or 4. This is how I’m able to take care of the boys during the day, usually handling email, administrative things, and social media duties while they nap or after Tristen gets home, saving bigger project things for the wee hours. It’s good in that I usually get enough sleep (though it’s broken up, which probably isn’t as healthy) and I get to …

Eleven Months of Twinning

Fawkes and Phoenix hit eleven months today. I celebrated by dropping them off with their Nonny and Pappy. It was a productive day. Summer Sands had some renovations after the Hurricane Florence and needed some updated room pictures. Since my mother-in-law is the manager, I was able to coordinate dropping the boys off with her after their first nap so I could go take care of that. Craig, the aforementioned Pappy, was at the hotel and left a parking ticket on my windshield as a joke. I was pretty confused about it until I went to ask Earl, who was manning the front desk, about it. I had noticed that the license plate number on the ticket wasn’t mine, but …

Our Third Anniversary

Here’s what I posted to Facebook today: To my smoking hot wife on our third anniversary: Normally people like to post pictures from their wedding on their anniversary, and normally that’s what I’d do. But this picture captures so much of what’s going in our lives on this, the day we celebrate three years of marriage. Milly’s growing up, Fawkes and Phoenix are keeping us busy, we’ve got New Baby (are we saying his name publicly yet?) on the way. And there we are: you and me, as in love as ever (maybe even more, if that’s possible). Thank you for telling me, “I’d say ‘yes,’” because those words opened the door to the adventure that is our life together. …
